I feel the term "reverse beer snob" should be reserved for the folks that walk into a craft beer bar/shop and ask, "Where's the REAL/AMERICAN beer?!?!?" as they search for Bud or Coors. Nothing wrong with AALs, I love them under the right circumstanes, but the inanity of standing in front of a bunch of American made "real beer" and asking for exactly that is rather infuriating.

It basically comes down to people crapping in threads with smarmy comments. Don't crap in threads with smarmy comments.

All the asinine acronyms piss me off too." BBABLHUFD is better with some age on it." Fuck off. Just use whole words, it doesn't take that much longer. That's been building for a while. I feel better now.

The way I see it is I don't care if you're a beer snob, reverse snob, anti-snob or whatever. What people post or say doesn't impact me. Most people posting crap this that are just bitter or jealous.

You keep drinking whatcha you're drinking and I'll keep drinking what I am drinking.

    It's just beer after all...cheers!

I don't have this problem. I can afford any beer, and I pay people to line up for me.

I can see their point, sometimes an easy-to-obtain beer is almost equally as good as a 'whale'.
The bad thing is, of course, people thinking their opinion is a fact, and every one else is wrong or crazy.

I sometimes trade expensive lambic for expensive american beer, and enjoy it very much.
Sometimes I walk into a supermarket and I buy a Girardin Black Label 1882 or a Rochefort 10 and I enjoy them very much.

Just enjoy the beers and respect peoples choices; the beer they drink as well as the money and effort they are willing to spend on it.

I agree with @JayORear who said that people jaw and jabber. It's not snobby to give an opinion about the beer, be a homer, complain about death and taxes and trash the other guys favorite quarterback or sports team.

This pretty well hits it on the head. Add to this the real old timers remember back to when we..., err, I mean they were the victims of Joe Sixpack snobbery. "Drinking that expensive, homo, dark, skunky, foreign, sissy crap/shit/toilet water again you commie, drink an American beer" kinda rolls the generic slurs into one big diss.

Some folks probably love to give it back, and that explains some of the "blowback" that older fine beer lovers give to modern Joe Sixpacks, but I believe it is more as you say. the wine snob mentality assholes who come late to the party and try to take it over with their condescension and snobbery.

And reverse beer snobbery? I guess calling someone a spendthrift is one thing, not necessarily snobbery, but I think it is something more subtle and subconscious, such as a desire to influence the community to not buy the overpriced/average quality beers in hopes they don't sell at high price, and prices and demand go down a bit so everyone can easily get the finest beers at affordable prices

Being hypocritical is key to being a proper BA. I love typing out rants about how people should buy cheap examples of classic, low ABV styles, while I drink a BA Mexican cake I bought online, and secure a spot at the VT flophouse for the weekend in anticipation of blowing my savings. It's the way it works.

My policy is to drink what I want and not care what others are drinking.

I do comment and ask for opinions on beers I have not had so that I can discover the next beer I want.
