Is Spaten still only available in a green bottle?

yes, Oktoberfest and playoff baseball a tradition like no other, and it usually includes Paulaner. I have to get my hands on the Weihenstephaner Oktoberfest.....will ask my beer monger.

I've only tried a few but New Glarus' Staghorn is my favorite by a long shot. And it's out now!

I also like Hacker-Pschorr. They gave away one of those giant dimple steins or a 22oz weizen glass with a 12 pack several years back and I scored some nice glassware that fall.

I'll have to make an effort this year to try a few other Oktoberfests before I get sucked into the stout frenzy.

Yes, but also in covered 12 packs. Been able to find it very fresh this year (though outside my state) -- bottled in May, 2015 -- no skunk.

I always look forward to Brooklyn Oktoberfest personally, but I don't discriminate. I try to have as many different ones I can around Fall. Pumpkin beers on the other hand...

Did a mix-a-six last year, and Sam Adams was my favorite, as it held the flavor as it warmed up. The others started to bitter a bit and tasted more and more like a typical AAL in the aftertaste. I like the fact that you can try a lot of different takes on the particular style and not be out a ton of money. Looking forward to SN this year from what I'm reading.

I went to get some cans of Slyfox's O fest last night. Didn't see any so I grabbed Pikeland Pils instead and it was great. According to the SF website it's still in the tanks, so I guess I'll have to be patient. I do recall drinking cans of it in the last week of August last year, so it shouldn't be long....It really is something I could drink year round.

I'm about to go on a road trip to Chicagoland, so I'll be looking to sneak across the northern border and snag some Staghorn. Really enjoyed that one the one time I've had it.

GLBC's offering is usually solid (haven't had a chance to pick any up this year as of yet), and Ayinger is fantastic. The local Hofbrauhaus has theirs coming in October (right now it's their Sommer Weizen on tap alongside the year-round standbys) (EDIT: In September, actually - they just have the Oktoberfest followed by the Festbier in October, oh shucks and darn), and I'm hoping to see some relatively fresh shipments of Aecht Schlenkerla shortly.

It's a good time of year to be a malthead.

I prefer the darker amber Marzen styles. For German beers, Paulaner is my favorite closely followed by Hacker-Pschorr. Ayinger is a real treat too.

This years Sierra Nevada is outstanding and it will be my go to Oktoberfest this year! My usual go to American O'fests are Victory Festbier, Left Hand Oktoberfest, Brooklyn Oktoberfest and of course Sam Adams. I hope Goose Island makes it here in North Florida this year.

While I prefer the darker styles, Highland Clawhammer is an excellent lighter colored Oktoberfest.

I passed through Cleveland a month ago, to early to pick up Great Lakes Oktoberfest but I did pick up a line up of their other beers and am VERY impressed with them. The stand outs were the Dortmunder Gold and the Edmund Fitzgerald Porter, both knock out beers. Still shooting for their Oktoberfest one of these days. Unfortunately the closest they distribute to Florida is Virginia or perhaps North Carolina.

Great Lakes Oktoberfest is awesome! Probably my second-favorite Oktoberfest (after Sam Adams). Hope you manage to get your hands on some! That sucks Great Lakes doesn't distribute to Florida.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was also available into November as well. It's nice that Sly Fox gauges it closer to the true season like that.

I had guests last year that said the same thing you did, that they could drink it all year long. I feel the same way about the other pale o'fests as well- too bad they are only around for a limited time. At least I will get the most out of them while they last.

Thanks for the heads up! Picked up a 6er of it on Saturday and it was pretty tasty! Love the idea of bringing a real deal German brewery in, best of both worlds

Victory for me. Not as big on the style as I used to be anymore but I still get me a sixer of that each year for the fall.
