Harris Grill in Shadyside has a good beer selection and food. Not too far from Lawrenceville where you can go to Roundabout, Hop Farm, Full Pint and Church Brew Works. Pretty close to East End as well.

Oh and if anyone has the opportunity, get your hands on some Nimble Giant from Troegs. Next level shit. A top 3 IPA for me right now.

I got it through my friend who lives fairly close. He said they sold bottles at the brewery but it lasted a few hours. He brought 2 growlers and I had what was left of his from Saturday. Probably the best nose on an IPA that I've ever smelled. Jimmy Durante big.

I would recommend The Yard over Mad Mex and Harris Grill for sure. Way bigger selection and realistic pricing compared with the other two.

Hopefully they will let that person actually order beer instead of just ring up customers. I feel bad for the previous guy. He tried hard, but got told no a lot. I offered to talk to his manager and no one really cared what a customer had to say about beer there.

That's pretty sad to be honest. What's the point of having a lead in that department if you're no going to let them do their job?

Was pleasantly surprised with the offerings from McHenry Market this past weekend in Deep Creek. Found all three Sculpin varieties, FW Easy Jack and Pivo Pils, a few from Maine Brewing and a sale-priced Pinner 12-pack, the latter of which made for good boat beers.

Mountain State Brewing does have guest taps now, which was something that I don't recall them doing during my previous visit (though nothing warranting mention).

I was disappointed to see that Mountain State Brewing did not have any of their own beers on tap. Place was crazy expensive too, as we got 4 drafts and the bill came to $32+.

I did not pick up anything from the McHenry Market, but when I got to the townhouse my buddy had a 6 pack of Grapefruit Sculpin chilled that we had with dinner before we did our Bourbon County tasting. I was surprised to see that down there.

The word "lead" seems completely irrelevant to this job's actual function.

I thought Shu-Bee-Doo was decent, but it finished a little sweet for me. I also thought the hop character was a bit muddled, but it could've just been me.

I will have to look for this. Troeg's hoppy beers took such a big nosedive after their move, I hope they are getting back on track. And I hope Nugget Nectar gets back to what it once was.

Going to respectfully disagree with this part. Have you had any/many of their Scratch beers? While they aren't all home runs, it is surprising to suggest they haven't been successful with their hoppy offerings, and not just their IPAs. Impending Descent is a unique example where they put our a beer you don't expect to find a solid hop profile. Perpetual is one that I revisit often, especially when I'm out there and their Scratches are limited.
