I am staying with family on East side of Louisville, Kentucky- Brownsboro area. I am looking for some information on the better local liquor stores where I can find the best selection of local and regional craft beers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I would also love some local brewery information too! Thanks in advance!
I don't know anything about that area, but Holy Grale, Sergio's, Louisville Beer Store, and even the Liquor Barns are good places to visit. Additionally, cross the river and hit The Keg Liquors in Clarksville IN. Against the Grain, Apocalypse, Great Flood are some breweries to visit. There's also a local pizza joint called The Post that carries a lot of local brews (especially Lexington's Country Boy) on tap.
If you're in the East End, you're not going to do much better than the Springhurst Liquor Barn. They've probably got the biggest selection in the area; all the locals, and all the best regional/national distro stuff we can get in KY, as well. You're also going to be close to Westport Whiskey and Wine, which is a locally owned, smaller operation, but will be able to fill in some of the blanks, and has a massive bourbon selection as well (if you're into that). You're also not too far from Evergreen Liquors in Middletown, as well as the new Liquor Barn in Middletown, although they seem to still be building up their selection there. As mentioned above, though, if you're willing to move into the city a little bit, there's a lot of spots to hit, (I'd add Old Town for a bottle shop and Cumberland for a brewery to those listed above), and I'd also recommend the 20 minute drive to The Keg Liquors in Clarksville, but also the one in New Albany. Drink some bourbon and eat your face off, though; you're going to be in one of the south's greatest cities for authentic local booze and great cuisine.
