Rumor is that it is a "Golden Brett Ale", but we wont get an official description from the brewery until just a few days before the release. If it is along the the lines of Wild Bitter that is fine by me. I loved that beer.

On the Hard Hat tour on GTMW weekend the brewer leading the tour said the next thumbprint will be a Golden Sour/Sour Blonde. I heard both but am assuming he meant the same. No mention of fruit although he probably would have said if that were the case as he was pretty forthcoming about what was going on. For what its worth there were markings on the big oak vats the said "SBL"....so i'm guessing Sour Blonde is more accurate.

Also the only remaining new thumbprint this year will be a milk stout according to the tour guide.

I think all this was said a few pages back as well.

EDIT: Meant next R&D will be Golden Sour/Sour Blonde...Not thumbprint.
Next thumbprint will be Milk Stout.

The beginning of this thread? PShhh, "I'm not interested at looking at the past, I'm focused on the future."

I would think it is Vintage 2014 w/Brett, but who knows.

The brewer on our tour all but confirmed there will be a Vintage 2015 next year as one of the R&D's. Not this year though. And he said Vintage 2014 is one and done. Won't see it again

Does that imply Vintage '15 will not be a gueuze style?

I would awesome it would be a geuze but a different blend. Maybe?

I believe that it was posted earlier that the Vintage 15 was a fruited Vintage 14. Or maybe I am just hoping that is the case...

I don't think so – if I recall (and was told) correctly, there were eleven bourbon barrels used for BBBB.

He said it will be impossible to do the Vintage 2014 Blend ('11, '12, '14) again because they don't have all the same lambics. Implied that 2011 is gone, or was used completely in Vintage 2014 blend. Vintage 2015 will be be similar but since they are not blending the same beers and the lambics will be in different points in the aging process, it will be different (but the same). This doesn't factor in all the other environmental factors either and how the yeast matures, etc.

If it tastes anything close to Vintage 2014, I'm all in.

That makes a lot more sense. Bourbon barrels are usually 50 gallons so that puts it right around 4,500 bottles.

I think you may have been quoting my post, and he had said something to the effect of it would be "a little different" -- so very wide open; could be different years' blends, could be fruit, could be the story he told of passing a blonde ale through a foudre that had previously only held browns. We shall see...

Went on the Hard Hat Tour on Friday and our tour guide was Mike the brewer from the original location. He told us that the Sour Blonde will be a Thumbprint. I mentioned hearing that it was the next R&D and he said no, Thumbprint in 4 packs. He wouldn't say what the next R&D is going to be. He talked about the Milk Stout Thumbprint and that Pumpkin Pie Lust was in the tanks. And that Dancing Man will be back next year.

That'd be great if a sour blonde came in TP 4-packs. I'll believe it when I see it though. Lots of conflicting rumors out there, so I'll just take what I get at this point!

Going back through this thread you'd think that high level employee sources and the people that give the hardhat tours are just throwing out random rumors just to mess with people.
