If you were speaking about Todd...

Not quite Uptown/Downtown, but Zipps had it last Friday (8/14), and Falls had it on Saturday (8/15).

I just returned from Liquor Barrel New Brighton. They had at least ten 4-packs of Todd in their cooler; as far back as the eye could see. The dates were 7/16 (I had them check their stock; all were 7/16). $14.99; same price as TW. Good luck!

My takeaway is that Todd is the base beer for MD.

Cans are from Surly, bottles are from Amager. Should be same recipe, but brewed at different breweries so I imagine there could be some variance.

My local had em for sale at $11.99 but I had to buy one......Hope it's half as good as the Surly cans.

I don't think the bottle is anything like the cans. In fact, I don't even think it's the same ABV so I don't know how it could be the same recipe.

It was a collaboration brew that was done when Todd did a European vacation and visited a bunch of breweries. It uses just one malt, golden promise, and a few hops (can only find reference to citra and mosaic for the Surly version). My guess is just different systems for the difference in ABV.

Well either way, it didn't come close to the cans for me.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you think was different between the two? Since first hearing about the collab beer, always thought it would be interesting to try them side by side, but I don't think we get Amager here.

I think a lot of people picked up on differences, though sounded like they were subtle, from the Surly, FFF and Real Ale versions of Blakkr. I think it just goes to show you, there is a lot to make beer than just knowing the recipe.

I've only found 7/20 can dates thus far..... maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Amager Bryghus version was bottled over a year ago (June or July 2014) and was released in Denmark only.

I believe its being bottled again sometime for US distribution but MN won't see it since it comes in via Shelton Brothers.

New Amager batch is stateside as of mid-August. I'm assuming that's what the folks above picked up? We haven't seen it in Iowa yet but should soon. Good bet you'l be able to find it in Hudson/etc as well fairly soon..
    I'm curious to try it!

It smelled and tasted like a totally different beer to me. It was much maltier than the can. Didn't have the same hop aroma or flavor profile. Out of the can, it was juicier as well.

I'm curious if there's still cans dated 08/04 (or later) out there, preferably in the South Minneapolis area? But anywhere is fine as I'm looking. Please BM if you spy.
