Thanks! Brings back memories of regularly "stealing" a few 16 oz bottles from my Dad's supply in high school to share with friends (PA, late 70's). Also a favorite in college.

Tried the cream ale again this summer. It was way too sweet for my likes. I remember it differently from 30 years ago but that could be good times talking

    Enjoy

Sounds like it could be a Duff, Duff Light and Duff Dry situation (all coming out of the same pipe at the brewery).

Don't laugh...that's actually very likely the case with a lot of the brands coming out of the big breweries ...especially most of the old 'legacy' brands still around, whose only resemblance to the originals lies in the paper label glued to the bottle or the logos printed on the can.
Some of those old-timey brands were actually not bad at all in their heyday (and a very small handful of them would actually have a bit of actual respect today if they were still brewed to their original formulas).

I've often thought that the PBR, Olympia, and Ranier that all come out of the Miller brewery in LA taste pretty damn similar.

Brings to mind Schlitz 1960s Formula Beer. As far as I know there is no bottled/canned Schlitz beer which is labeled as being "1960s Formula Beer" but yet there is still a number of folks who think that you can still buy this sort of beer (some folks call it as Schlitz Gusto beer). I personally am not convinced that a Schlitz beer 'similar' to the 1960's version is available for purchase.

    Cheers!

Thanks for posting, it was an interesting read! Genny Cream Ale was one of the first non BMC beers I tried & to this day is my go to cheap "Ale".

Loved the tall boys around a fire when I was definitely not old enough to be drinking them.
