I recently read an article about how many beer gardens in Germany have playgrounds fornthenkids, and that you are in fact encouraged to bring your family.

I got thrown out of a brewery in NY this week and it also happened to be the Horseheads brewery I talked about it. I was just going for a growler to go, but wanted to try a sip of something before I purchased. The lady was like well if you leave right now I'll sell you a growler, but don't plan on having any samples. Wife was enraged, I was enraged, but I took the kids out walked backed in and I could have all the alcohol I wanted. I know I should have not, but if saved an argument with the wife. She said they couldn't be in their because of insurance, but I could get drunk from them and drive a car with kids and that's ok. They even gave me lip on Untapped.

The girl at DL was really apologetic about it so I didn't have any issue with that thankfully. Like kbuzz I just think it's a really antiquated way to conduct business.

Again - Spoonwood. Best brewpub for kids I've ever seen.

That may be true, but they also win the award for worst beer brewed in the area. Had to go to Morgantown(Morgantown Brewing) to find a worse brewery. I hope they improve and maybe ill give them another shot at some point, but the beers i had on my visit were pretty bad.

Spoonwood is very kid friendly. I didn't think their beer was terrible but it's definitely not the best. I'd much rather go to BG.

Nothing I had there was great by any means but they're certainly no worse than the overwhelming majority of breweries in the area.

The new Brew Gentlrmen beers were all good. The Sunshine Elixer may be my favorite beer from them since the Scotch barrel Build and Destroy. Like an extra juicy Overgrowth. I really enjoyed the Coffee Milk Stout too. That one will go really quick.

I'm very likely hitting up BG for breakfast/brunch Sunday around opening, if anyone wants to party.

    Where is the dislike button.

Couldn't disagree more with you. I feel like Pittsburgh is finally catching up to the Colorado scene I saw 4 yrs back. Being a new parent, and a beer geek it is very nice to have family friendly options to go grab a bite to eat and a beer. I do not condone kids hanging out all hours of the night, but grabbing dinner and a beer with the family should not be a big deal and it really paints a picture of your closed-mindedness.

Agreed. We take the kids a lot of place, actually in Maine, Maine Beer Co had a little table set up with games and coloring books and stuff just for kids.

We don't usually keep our kids (almost 4 and 2) out past 7-730 or so, but we go to places at like 5, have dinner a beer or two and head home. I wouldn't keep the kids there past 8-830, definitely not past 9. But I don't see a problem with having your kids with you while you have food and a beer, or just a beer or whatever. As long as they are running wild and no holds barred, why would it be any different than some ignorant drunk a hole being loud?

I moved back home to Erie when I was taking the bar, and am severely missing being in Pittsburgh to visit Voodoo. I will need to man my ass up and drive to Meadville one of these upcoming weekends.
