Article yesterday in Skagit Valley Herald on new Farmstrong Brewing Co., which has started brewing and plans grand opening Sept. 19 in Mount Vernon, (Washington) 110 Stewart Rd., which is just E of I-5 on the south side of the river bridge. They too are talking about using Skagit Valley barley, a crop which seems to be on the increase along with the production of Skagit Valley Malting.

I stopped by the Farmstrong place and they said the Skagit Valley Malting people had been there helping with their first batch. Supposed to be a 20 BBL system. Big space with separate tasting room.

Thanks for letting me know about the longer discussion-- we should just have a regular northwestern Washington thread for posting news and rants.

That's how I view every NW thread (maybe not the "Washington" part).

I just don't get down to MV, anacortes, and Oak harbor enough to have a feel for what's going on down there. If someone wants to cover Skagit, I can cover Whatcom.
