it's only once a year and having a late August birthday means warm weather and fantasy football prep. it's like clockwork, no complaints! it's BPL season, fantasy football prep, and ~2 weeks from college football. the only constants, that and good beer!

does anyone have a birthday beer habit/routine? a particular beer? brewery visit? pub visit? do you treat yourself? get a bottle or case you've been wanting? i know what i'm doing!! and i know what i'm buying myself!! curious to see if anyone has any consistent birthday plans

My birthday falls right about where my favorite beer season starts (October) for drinking big ol stouts that I have been saving from the previous year... So I will pop open and share one or two of those big un's and then normally have a couple of good Pale Ales or Oktoberfests with my homemade pizza and cheesecake that I make for myself every year.

Not the most exciting tradition, but its the little things in life, right?!

Last July, on my birthday, we went to a local brewery. We weren't there very long before having to take my dad to the hospital. It turned out he was having a heart attack. :grimacing: We decided not to make that a tradition. This year we just sat on the beach and drank beers!

Usually just open something I have been hanging on to. Also I have a bottle of whisky I brought back from Japan, open once a year for a birthday toast to myself.

I got a growler fill on my b'day this year. I think that may be my new beer related b'day event. Of course my b'day for the next foreseeable years will be spent at youth camp as our churches week is the week of the 4th of July.

Not a tradition yet, but this year -- two days from now -- plan to do my first Bucket List/Birthday/Beercation road trip. Will be travelling around visiting some states for the first time, doing a couple of state high points, and spending my birthday evening at a Pirates game. Of course will be hitting some brew-pubs along the way and hopefully filling a cooler with beers not available in Virginia. If my wife and I can spend this six day road trip together without killing each other, then it may become a tradition ....

I have a bottle of Jester King Reposé that I've been keeping for my birthday in February. I hope it'll be worth the wait!

I have a bottle of The Bruery Cuivre that will be opened here in a couple of weeks. I have never had anything from them and never anything nearly as expensive, hope it's worth it. Honestly I'm more excited for the beer then the birthday.

Plan on celebrating my birthday with ADWTD and Vanilla Rye. Probably back to back nights, not on the same day though.

Always try to pick up something aged and/or limited for my birthday, this year I have my last bottle of Menagerie 8, will be about three old, might crack open the Narwhal vertical I have. Next year for my 30th I will be working on a World Wide Stout mini vertical ranging from 2006-2009, really excited for that since WWS ages like a champ!

I too have a big one coming up this year, and while I don't normally have a habit other than my usual (I may open something a bit nicer than usual,) this year my wife is making a big-ish party for me. It will have a beer theme, and besides people bringing something to share, I'll be digging into my cellar for a few things. I have a jeroboam of Ommegang Abbey that we need to open, I plan to bring out my '09 Kate the Great (I ran into Todd Mott at the Tributary release of the same recipe, he said that he had an 09 not long before, it was starting to go downhill) and probably a few other things, depending on the crowd left at that point.

While your profile pic tells me that you're close to my age, but I know you're a decade + younger, I'd say stop your birthday routine... ;-P I kid I kid.

    Cheers & happy B-Day!

Founders typically releases Breakfast stout within a week or 2 of my birthday each year so a trip to the brewery to celebrate both is always a necessity

Having a late January birthday, I usually celebrate by spending more than I usually do on a hearty winter beer. Last year I bought a growler of a great local stout (Picaroons Man's Best Friend) and a few bottles of N'Ice Chouffe (a Belgian Style Strong Dark Ale), one of which is still cellaring!
