That's why I admitted it was a gamble. Since he's never done it before and we don't know details about where the syrup came from and how long it sat in the barrel.

I'm more interested in what is going to be going into that barrel know that the maple syrup has been emptied out. Fingers crossed for a bourbon barrel maple syrup La Nada

    Dear OG's

The Donor party is 7 weeks away. We need your RSVP in by September 1st, no later. After September 1st, the list will be closed. The party will start at 12pm that Saturday and go till 4pm. You are allotted 1 entrance ticket unless you had purchased an additional ticket back during the campaign. Your entrance will include 1 bottle of the beer we are releasing only for the party. These will only be done for the party so you must be here to pick them up. We will have a ton of treatment beers on draft that day available on the outside station as well as inside the taproom. More details will be released in the next couple of weeks.

Again, please RSVP by September 1st in order to reserve your spot.

    Cheers,

    Johnathan

So basically, thank you for spending $300 on starting my brewery. However, if you don't want to spend $1000 to travel down here by yourself, because you didn't want to spend another 50 bucks on a second ticket to a party that you didn't know when it would be, you won't get a bottle that everyone else will.

I know tequila is sick of hearing the complaints, but it gets better everyday...

Nope. Not at all. In fact, all are professional brewers. People just refuse to admit his stuff hasn't been that great since he opened. The emperor has no clothes, as a friend of mine likes to say. The Blood Orange Berliner might be the very worst beer I've had in 2015 (it's between that and the infected GF Silva Stout). His berliners, when they're not diacetyl bombs, all have a weird dirty dishwater back end. La Nada is probably his strongest brew.

I find it entertaining, but it blows my mind the stuff this brewery gets away with. He's a nice enough guy, but I can't believe the stuff that comes out of this crew sometimes.

Maybe it's because I have had them all fresh, but I haven't had a single JWB beer with even the slightest hint of diacetyl.

I'd question whether you know what diacetyl tastes like when present in a beer or if we're even actually talking about the same brewery, but you seem like the kind of person who should know what he is talking about, so let's not pollute the thread with anything further on that (after all, taste is subjective).

Your dishwater back end comment leaves me with only one thing I'd like ask:

Have you ever worked for or done one-off volunteer work for any other breweries in South Florida?

Or maybe you don't know what diacetyl tastes like, the vast majority of his Berliners have a distinct buttery off flavor finish....I'm pretty sure that's diacetyl. Blood orange was one of the worst beers I've ever had.

Can also confirm diacetyl in some wake Berliners....but lots of them are pretty good too

Yeah, saying he's 4th is quite the claim. I'm definitely interested to hear the other 3.

I'm guessing the three ahead of JWB would be:

    • Funky Buddha Lounge & Brewery (original location in Boca Raton)
    • Odd Breed Wild Ales (formerly Wild Oak Artisan Ales-basically Matt Manthe)
    • Barrel of Monks
Not ranked in any particular order as I haven't had anything from the last two.

Well...if that is the case, then JWB is like 7th or 8th in the state of Florida.

I'd agree with that. Only because he technically has only been brewing on his own equipment since earlier this year. The more time he has to get these smoothed out and put some more experience under his belt the sooner he'll rise in the ranks of best Florida breweries for berliners/sours. I think its just a matter of time though. Whether you love him or hate him the dude has some serious skill.

So now the pundits claim the "vast majority" of JW beers are bad and have diacetyl. I know the bubblegum/butter flavor and I haven't had a one with it. I'm not going to go as far as claiming it's never happened, but to claim they are all bad is absurdity at it's finest. I had the Blood Orange and while I've liked many other of his sours better, it still didn't have diacetyl, even if you hated everything else about it.

The JW hate crew has officially jumped the shark.

I had the blood orange berliner at CCB the night they tapped a beer named sue. I thought it was great. Definitely didn't get any diacetyl.

I had it the first weekend it was on tap at the brewery and it was awesome...had it almost a month later at a few diff spots around town and it had changed to a nasty buttery mess....
