By separating the India Palace business from the brewpub will keep the brewpub beer out of their other establishments am I correct?

One would assume if they separate the businesses they will be licensed as a brewery. It would make no sense at this point to be a brewpub (assuming i am reading the article correctly)

I'm not exactly sure. An earlier article suggested (or stated, rather) that there would be a doorway between the two buildings/establishments, but it now reads as if they are separate (and essentially competing) establishments -- both being restaurants. So I don't believe it would be either legal or a good idea for that doorway idea to be kept as it had originally been planned.

Also, in a change from the original plan the head brewer will be brought in as a partner, whereas the original partnership had involved one of the principles in India Palace. So maybe India Palace can enter into an agreement to sell the Nutmeg beer (kegs/draught) at some point, later on? It's definitely a unique twist in that plan.

A very small update on BlackStack. The industrial remediation and adaptive re-use is mostly finished (exterior) and the build-out of the brewery is progressing on site. The plan for a soft opening is roughly for the Oktoberfest season. And I know that there are a lot of Oktoberfests in-store now (thanks to 'seasonal creep'), but think closer to American Oktoberfest -- in the actual month of October.

Or maybe a brewery with a taproom and restaurant -- sort of like Urban Growler?

Yep! And i've not-so-ironically only ever enjoyed one of their growlers. Cue the Alanis Morrisette . :sunglasses:

Looks adequate from my pseudo beer educated view. All the tanks I see look to be for a 3bbl system so they won't have that much brewing capacity.

Quick update on Bad Weather Brewing in St. Paul . They are planning on opening in the month of September ...no exact date yet as they are patiently waiting for final sign offs from the city on a couple items but once that's done they can start producing beers and open their doors.

They REALLY were aiming for Summer 2015 but with the wait times for brewing equipment across the US it pushed it out so I guess its going to be Oktoberfest season when the doors open. It will be worth the wait as the taproom looks pretty awesome and West 7th is not a bad spot to stop for a drink .

Along with Build-outs at Lake Monster and Blackstack ....Things are looking up in St. Paul .

Bad Weathers FireFly Rye Ale hits stores next week so keep your eyes out as its a good one .

Sounds like a perfect time to have their Ominous to roll out.

Chaz has them listed as DOA but I believe there is still some life over at Zurbey Brewing.

Oh, no my friend, not 'dead on arrival' at all. Although the resultant beer could in fact be "dull on arrival", I s'pose, but that's a whole 'nother Combo Platter (and there is in fact still plenty of room in the brewing gene pool for dull beer to be weeded out in the long run, doncha know).

Are they longer in the planning stage and or making? Definitely. See this post and this one, too. Either way -- he does state that he is in planning on his webamabob, and jalapeno and roasted peaches are Squaresville, you dig? It's all about the pickled okra and ancho peppers.

Another taking a lot longer than I'd hoped is Mr. McGeasil -- an' it was a cherry space in Lowertown, St. Paul. I done dogged his web and social media presence so bad that he probably got a restraining order out on my ass, and yet:
He has sold his home and has re-located.

Which reminds me of another plan which began locally before re-locatin', SEVEN years back -- DUO Brewing, LLC. One part of the duo left the plan en route to Califor-ni-A, leaving the other part to find a new partner (which he did), but then the operation relocated to Washington state, and operated for a few years before shuttering.

Which just goes to prove that not every Brewery In-Planning in the state of Minnesota actually *stays* in Minnesota, and for that matter some (like Longfellow Brewing) end up morphing into something even better -- like Elevated Wine and Spirits. It's a weird, wild world out there, Mr. Spicoli.

There's one slight, very small update I have to add about the Stonehouse Pub in St. Paul:
He had a few other salient details to add, but I will save it for another time -- I still need to get over there for a tour.

In the long run @islay is probably more practical than I am (and a great deal less of a hopeless romantic, I suspect) in being of the belief that a good many of these plans simply won't be around in the long run.

I am philosophical in believing that -- while there's room for average beer (although not much room, perhaps), there's certainly going to be an effect where a lot of the destination taproom/breweries don't hold a candle to the longevity of a market presence like Summit Brewing or Surly -- naturally. But even a few of the places which weren't beloved by the rank and file beerknerd (c.f. Leech Lake, which is now 100% belly-up) had held a special place in the hearts of many of the buying public who are perhaps also more forgiving, possessed of less exacting palates. Leech Lake made it a good few years, in the end, and maybe that's all that guy had in mind -- make a good, solid run, turn a few heads, and then ske-daddle?

Actually I think his plan was to use up all the fuggles hops in the world and earn a reputation as the worlds greatest fuggles single hop brewer of every beer style there is.

Anyone else get an e-mail from Bryn Mawr Brewing today without signing up? Just trying to confirm if Vine Park sold/gave off their e-mail distribution list.

Just as long as they're up and running for the beer run in October, I'll be happy.

Looks like they have an excellent chance of being open in September. Everything is in place and I assume waiting on final inspection for brewing approval. I wonder if the brewpub will open regardless of house beer being available?
