I'm drinking this right now and I can not agree more.

Likely the best BBA stout I've ever had.

That should have been brewed again by now, but for some reason they skipped it and did old ruffian again... :slight_frown:

    Heavy Seas Siren Noire
    Alewerks Bourbon Barrel Porter

I think both are just under 10% and both should be pretty easy to get a hold of if you trade.

*Scratch that I just checked and Siren Noire has chocolate added.

Really trying to make sure it meets the qualifications set forth by OP:

Blue Mountain Dark Hollow does, and it's really good esp for the price. It makes its way as far west as MI so might be easier to get than trying to trade for some of these.

I'd recommend Heady Topper. The barrel agedness is really good.

So where are we at on the whole coffee thing? Yay or Nay?

Nay. OP wants traditional BA Stout with no adjuncts or added flavors.

okay I must have missed 'added flavors' in his criteria. Wouldn't the bourbon and the oak itself be considered added flavor?

I often find barrel aging big stouts isn't the answer.

I really enjoyed Full Sail's bourbon barrel aged stout. And at 9.8%, it's practically a session beer for the style.

Not that it's that great, but Abita's Bourbon Street Imp Stout fits the bill. It's drinkable and more available than Central Waters.

+1 for the slightly over 11 Deth's Tar for me, too. That was fantastic, along with any of the "Gene" series out of Revolution brewing...
