    (1) wanted to see if there was anyone from the area who posted here, and (2) wanted to see if there were any "must haves" in terms of places to go and things to do in the region.

So, hi fellow now locals.

I hear Funk Brewing has a cool little taproom in Emmaus (a little south of Allentown) http://funkbrewing.com/

There is also a great gastropub called Trapp Door in Emmaus as well http://thetrappdoorgastropub.com/

Abes Cold Beer is a great little bottle shop in Bethlehem. Porters Pub in Easton. Liberty St. Tavern in Allentown. And if you're ever near Whitehall, stop in the Keystone Pub on Grape St. Ask for Paul (me) and I'll buy you a beer and we can shoot the shit about beer and places. Cheers.

Lots of good places within reasonable driving distance if you want to take a beer trip. Tired Hands, Al's/Pizza Boy, Troegs, Victory.

I'll second Porters in Easton. Also in Easton is Weyerbacher Brewing and Two Rivers Brewpub. Not beer related but there's a good farmers market on Saturdays in the center of Easton with lots of local produce, meats, coffee, baked and prepared foods.

Just across the free bridge in Phillipsburg, NJ is Freebridge Wine and Spirits. It's a store with a small bar inside.

I have a soft spot for Strange Brew Tavern in Allentown. Always loved going in there on Tuesdays for wings when I worked in the area. Usually a very good beer selection too - always a few items on that I couldn't get in NJ.

I really like Funk over in Emmaus. Really small, but they bring in food trucks, friendly atmosphere. As for Abes, nah f*** that guy. Ive had the owner straight up lie to me before when looking for some BCBS on Black Friday. I knew it was there, I watched people leave with it, he acted like he never heard of it. I would at least respect him if he said, "I dont know you, you're not a regular, sorry my limited stash is for them" but to lie to my face? F*** him. Head to Freebridge.

Yeah, I plan on hitting up Funk Brewing after the holiday weekend. I'd not heard of Trapp Door yet, so thanks for the heads up!

Spinerstown Hotel is another place you should check out. It's over South Mountain near Quakertown. Really nice beer and food, a little higher end but they get Russian River stuff on occasion and have a nice bottle cellar.

I live over the hill from Spinnerstown and second that! A little pricier on bottles to go, but they are always rotating taps along with friendly service and great food. I also like Macgrady's on 3rd Street in Bethlehem...awesome wings and great selection of beers as well. Most places in the area update regularly (if not daily) on Beermenus as well.

If you're in Easton I would check out the Wardell Pub/Freebridge for the tap list and growlers. They do typically carry Caton Boat and 077XX cans as well.

    Welcome!

If you're in Bethlehem, try Bethlehem Brew Works, corner of Main and Broad. They also bottle some of their stuff and sell as Fegley's. If you like breastaurants, PJ Whelihan's on Schoenersville Rd has a good craft selection.

Also, if you like to buy beer by the case (or keg), Tanczos (On Jacksonville Rd near Schoenersville Rd) is a good place. Good craft selection and reasonable prices. Some 12 packs there but the law in PA just changed so 12 packs in the distributors is a new thing. Don't ask anyone to explain the PA beer laws to you. It would take a while.

I'll third Porter's in Easton. Good craft selection and the food is good as well. Nice little place. I'll also second Weyerbacher in South Easton. You can get a draft there or buy some bottles to go.

...and if you're looking to grab a quick six or two at one of the few grocery stores you can buy beer at (as a separate transaction and they ID EVERYONE), Wegman's selection is better and prices are lower than Weis.

I find it somewhat hilarious that a number of my beer friends in SC thought I was moving into a barren wasteland where all I could drink would be Yeungling. From what I've read on here, that is FAR from the case.

So what I'm hearing is that as soon as we set our house up, I need to restock my kegerator, invite you guys all over, and open a few bottle of Mexican Cake and other SC goodies. (Seriously - I'm gonna need some bottle shares at some point; I brought a LOT of stuff from SC/NC.)

PA definitely sees the best distribution of any state on the East Coast - Philly/SEPA gets stuff that no other surrounding states do.

My wife's biggest concern about us relocating here was that while she might love her new job, she was afraid I'd not find any people to connect with.

I think I'll show her this thread.

If you get over towards Harrisburg Troegs is worth a visit, especially in the off season when Hershey Park is closed and it's not such a mad house over there. Also, Al's of Hampden/Pizza Boy Brewing is a must visit if you're over that way, there's also quite a few really awesome BA members in this area. If you ever make it over this way let me know!
