I had no idea that Abner and S&S5 were so...pedestrian.

I thought people were questioning whether the beers were the same since the new brewing system went in, not whether those beers are good in and of themselves. This wouldn't be the first thread in which folks have suggested they've noticed some changes/inconsistencies since the expansion. Now, those people could be full of shit, and the beer could be the exact same, but I think that's the question at hand here - not whether Abner or S&S5 are inherently pedestrian.

I think beyond changes and inconsistencies, some have brought up a potentially valid theory: that drinking beer at Hill Farmstead results in a more enjoyable beer in the same way that drinking a Corona on the beach or an Imperial in the rainforest does.

Well, for what it's worth, throw me in as another voice on the whole "recent inconsistencies" train. I've been a fairly regular drinker of HF beer since they opened, including at various events in Europe where they've sent kegs for special festivals/occasions. But my recent samples of their beers, both in NY bars AND at HF itself, have been inconsistent. Sometimes it's as good as ever, at other times they've tasted murky and dull. I suspect there's simply a bit of a learning curve as part of the scaling up. Most of the beers I've had still are as great as ever, but a not-insignificant portion of them have been off. Wait 6 months, this whole "problem" will likely disappear.

edit - I intentionally noted the European drinking to show that in the past, even sending kegs long distances resulted in awesome beer.

I'm sure I'll end up drinking like 4 just to make sure it's as bad as I think the first one will be

Ah. I'm still yet to figure out how twitter works. I'm still basking in the after glow of figuring out Instagram.
