Say you buy a six pack, drink one, and decide it's not for you. What do?

Choke the rest down? Try to trade them away? Stash it in your cellar and act like it never happened?

There's so much good beer out there, it's hard to reach for that subpar stuff that lurks at the back of the fridge. Just curious how others handle this situation.

    Prost!

I give them away to friends when they come over. Most aren't THAT into craft. So anything I give them they think is pretty decent and they appreciate the offer from me

Same here. Parting gifts for friends. I've sucked quite a few friends into the good beer game. I've ruined
    BMC for some.

If sharing isn't a possibility, I drink them after consuming tastier options. On a given night my palate is usually shot after 3 beers, so that provides a good opportunity to drink anything that fits your description.

This is why I will not buy a any multipack until I have tried a single and know I like it.

But if for some reason I did have multiples of a beer that I found I did not like I would still drink them but it would take a while, unless the wife says I can't get any new beers until the ones in the fridge are gone.

I sneak them into a neighbors fridge when they aren't looking. This has backfired on me a couple of times when I found them stashed in my garage later

Like MicTar said, I don't by 6 pack's of any beer I have not already tried, so I have never been in that situation, and likely never will.

I try to buy beers where I kind of know what I'm getting, so outright 'dislike' very rarely happens for me. But when I do get a beer that I thought could have been better I just try little blending experiments with the remainder of the sixer just to make it that much more fun and interesting.

Gut it out for stuff that I can tolerate, drain pour the rest. Fortunately not a frequent problem - but life is too short to choke down bad beer, or spend too much time scheming on how to dump it on somebody else.

I like this idea. I can see a homemade black and tan or shandy adding some life to a mediocre brew.

I don't buy much stuff I don't like, primarily because I usually do a LOT of research before I buy anything. If I do buy something I don't care for, I give it away, as I did with NYFRB.

How bad can it possibly be? Ultimately, it's still BEER. :grinning:

I like to cook with beer so that's always an option. Pawning them off on company works as everyone else has suggested. But there is something to be said about having those emergency beers in the back of the fridge just in case you need them.

Yeah- and it doesn't always have to be something like that. One time I remember having both a session IPA and an older DIPA in the fridge- blended together they made a beer that I enjoyed better than either separately.

Haha, very true my friend! This situation doesn't happen to me often, I'm very easy to please, and usually research out the wazoo.
In this case, I picked up an IPA that I thought would be tropical and refreshing... but, to me, it tastes like onions.

I drink it anyway, unless it's a style that can be aged then I cellar it and see if I like it more with age on it.
