The weekend of August 15th, I will be traveling from Connecticut to DC for the weekend for a college reunion gathering. Would love some recommendations of craft beer bars, breweries to visit. Also, any specific brands that I should try & bring back and share with my fellow craft beer lovers here in CT. Thanks in advance!

I was down a month ago and did an afternoon of brewery hopping (DD driving)
and hit 3 Stars, Hellbender, DC Brau and Atlas. Total distance between the 4
was something like 6.2 miles. Beyond the beers, I rate them 3 Stars, DC Brau, Atlas
and Hellbender, which I would consider skippable.

For dinner I hit Right Proper (return visit), which is great.

On the way out of town we hit Denizens Brewing, which had ok to good beers,
but it was a good afternoon of music on their patio.

I found much of this info by checking out this site, btw: http://dcbeer.com

@ShanePB is right on with the Bars.

You will be visiting during the last bit of DC Beer Week, so there should be some special events at some of the venues listed above. Events are still being added, but dcbeer.com will give some idea of the events listed so far.

    DUDE.

This Saturday the 15th Bluejacket is celebrating the re-opening of their bottle shop which is right next to the brewery/brew-pub. They will have around 20 different bottles for sale, some which have never been bottled before. Check out DCbeer.com for a list of events that you could attend.

    Disco fries all the way!

On a food note, i would suggest birch and barley (same restaurant, just downstairs). While not as many beers, the food is awesome and ample. Grab a seat at the bar if you can, the bar tenders are awesome.

Nope, just the regular ol' tots. Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, superdelicious. Best tots ever.

I'll be going to DC over Labor Day weekend. Definitely going to Right Proper and Blue Jacket. Any other MUSTS from anyone?

Also, any other musts as far as bottle shops? I'm from NC so I wouldn't mind bringing some bottles back to share.

Also, any good recommendations on pizza or burgers? We'll be in the Dupont Circle neighborhood for whatever that's worth.

If you're in Dupont, you should definitely hit up Pizzeria Paradiso for drafts and pizza and P Street Whole Foods for bottles.

For a burger, Ray's Hell Burger. First metro stop on Orange/Blue/Silver line in Arlington. Though I personally always preferred the Steak and Cheese as opposed to the burgers (which are extremely well regarded). Really miss that place...

^^^Pizza at Rustico is solid and beers are excellent (same ownership as Churchkey). If you are in the city, the Ballston location is easiest from the metro though the Slaters ln (Alexandria) spot is better from a vibe/ambiance perspective, imo. Just not as accessible on public trans.

Smoke and Barrel, Churchkey, are musts.

Lost Dog Cafe in Arlington serves as a solid bottle shop as well, I always found.
