yeah the traffic in that area is awful. I've driven by many times now and it's a logistical nightmare really. But I do hope to visit often since it's really close to where i live....hopefully they are successful.

A few hours ago Deviate Brewing tweeted, "Whoops. The open sign just came on!!". Anyone see that and stop by?

Visited Deviate this afternoon. For initial offerings on an opening weekend, can't do much better than they have. Solid across the board including a some absolute gems. Great addition to Indy. Will be getting back regularly.

I've been drinking their beer for a long time. They are creative and damn good at brewing. A very welcomed addition to Indy beer.

I was there on Saturday and really enjoyed all 4 of the beers I tried. I heard one of the brewers say a Pumpkin Barleywine is coming down the road. Can't wait.

Just a heads up, I believe they are only open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to start off.

We tried everything. The Hawaiian Imperial Stout (bal aged with coffee and coconut) was phenomenal, as was the Vanilla imperial stout. Monkey Business (barrel aged scotch ale with coffee and banana) was ridiculous, as was Strudel. The Chipotle Porter had perfect heat, but was a rye beer, which I personally can't stand. I'd hope they do that beer sans rye in the future...The berliner weisse was spot on as well.

I was in Indy a few weeks ago and the most memorable beer I had was Lift Off from Daredevil. Great single IPA, nothing fancy just really solid. Wish I had tracked some down in cans to bring back.

Going to be flying in to Indy for Thanksgiving and was planning a Whole Foods run for beer (on the way to Kokomo). I plan on grabbing any 3 Floyds stuff I see, but what other local beers* are likely to be available there that I should pick up?

*Or other regional brews I can't get in DC. We occasionally do get some of the standard Sun King brews out here: Osiris, Wee Mac, and Sunlight.

You should be on the lookout for anything from 18th Street in bottles. Check Deviate and see if they are offering growlers of anything.

Yes, check Deviate's twitter for their current list and whether they are offering growlers. If they are open and doing growler fills, this will be a 1 minute detour on your drive from airport to 31 to head up to Kokomo and is definitely worth a stop.

I'd also say, Whole Foods is not where it's at in getting the most out of your search, imo. Best store in the metro area is the Crown Liquors in downtown Indy (corner of Delaware and Ohio). It takes about 15 minutes to get to Crown downtown from the airport, but it is a 20 min or so detour from the most direct route up to Kokomo. Otherwise, Parti Pak or Payless on 96th st on the northside. If you are looking to stay as close as possible to the shortest route from IND to Kokomo, Vine and Table in Carmel, Whole Foods Westfield/Carmel, and there's also a new grocery store in Carmel called Market District that has a good beer section.
