If you miss Surly Wet (as well you should), make an effort to try some of Surly's version of Todd the Axe Man (a collaboration with Amager Bryghus out of Denmark). It's a tap-only release available now at Surly's taproom and supposedly hitting bars soon. Of all the great beers in the IPA family that Surly brews (Furious, Overrated, Abrasive, and Wet, among others), I think Todd the Axe Man is the very best.

Now BAs, I know you loved Surly's old IPA, but the new one is going to be better than 10 Super Bowls! I don't want to oversell it; judge for yourselves.

 

Probably just means that it'll be back next year.

At the tap room having a Todd the Axe Man as we speak. This beer is fantastic!! Reminds me of Societe's Pupil.

 

The Pupil is a darn good beer.

 

I take it back, this thing is a juice bomb and the closest beer that I've had to it is Double Sunshine.

 

Any Todd the axeman at other tc bars yet? Visiting for a couple days and would love to try this

They should be considering they'll have the space this year. But we won't know til it's ready.

I wonder what hops will be used and how much will be sent to IA/WI/IL?

 

Just got some formation at the beer hall, sounds like a Simpson malt base and the featured hop are two new experimental varieties from New Zealand called Whakapono and Tupato-kore.
