That's why just have a double shot of Whiskey before having my first and sometimes only beer of the night....helps bring on that "wow" factor alot faster without wasting two beers to get there. ;-)

I will have to try that. I've been thinking it was the first beer that "warmed up" my palate for the other beers. Maybe it really was the alcohol and/or buzz. We'll see.

You're correct - I asked for thoughts and you gave them to me. But I really meant to insinuate that you should be drunk or at least have a couple before responding. I'm 63 by the way. Next B-day in a month. And IMO, 10 years is much older, especially when you're younger.

That's more or less what my drinking schedule looks like as well.

There's nothing wrong with drinking everyday if you're not drinking too much. I drink most days but rarely have more than 2 and it's been working for me.

You see. I could definitely sit down and a have a brew with you. And you're right I'm not in a hurry to get older. But Happy Birthday and I'm glad to see youre in good health and still having a beer or two. Hope I still am then.

I've always believed that a real beer drinker is one who is drinks responsibly, and who drinks to enjoy the quality and craftsmanship of the beverage itself; not someone who drinks only to get drunk or just to see how many they can finish like it is a race. Moderation is always good. Just my .02

I like to drink everyday, but I do my best not to. It's like wanting to eat whatever you want all the time. No can do. Be strong my BA friend.

I drink 2 or 3 pretty much every weekday and occasionally more on weekends. I find that if I stick to no more than 3 it does not adversely affect my work/life.

Whatever works for you man. I don't think you need to have a drinking routine or not have a drinking routine. I took almost a month off from drinking alcohol of any kind, for financial reasons, and I was just a little burnt out. And now I find my passion for beer has been invigorated. Partially because I love fall seasonals like octoberfests, brown ales, and the like, but also I find the break I took to have made me appreciate what I missed more

People can do whatever they want - everyone is different. Personally I like to take a couple of days off each week. Just feels like a better balance (for me - absolutely not judging anyone that drinks every day). Overindulgence runs in the family so it's something I'm acutely aware of.

One thing I keep in mind is a "bad calorie budget." here's an example .Friday, a friend dropped in we drank some porter & a coffee stout I had wanted to try. Saturday, I hadn't had ice cream in a week .... and went on a longer bike ride, but since I had sugars, no beer. Sunday could have went either way, but this weekend the sugar won. For now it comes down to three or four days of beer or sugars per week. The big word being "or."

Typically for me I have two days of the week (usually Wednesday and Saturday) that I will have 2-4 beers in a sitting. Then maybe one or two other days in the week I have only one.

So for the most part, I take 3-4 days "off" per week.

When I first started ticking I was going at it like gang busters . I gained weight of course. I decided to keep my limit to two a day and no more which is how I keep fitting into my clothes. I often get tipsy but I rarely get drunk. I usually pop my first beer as I am starting my time in my kitchen. I make almost everything from scratch because. . . well,I am fussy. I also do not own a car so sometimes I just don't have any beer. Like today. Or in the winter time it's harder to get around so I have less beer then too. At only 2 a day there is no addiction to alcohol and while you may crave a beer or miss your daily me time, you won't faint or lose sleep over it.
