    All,

Hopefully this hasn't been discussed, but I am looking for some general advice. I recently joined the Bruery Preservation and Reserve societies. I thought I had a trustee locked down until I started reading a little more about the shipping options. (For some reason, I thought this would be the normal shipping arrangement via Fedex or UPS and he could just hold the package at the facility for pick up)

My trustee won't be at home, so he would have to accept at work. So a few questions:

    1) Does GSO allow for customizable delivery at home? I.e. Arrangement for packages delivered at night or weekends?
    2) Do CA employers mind if employees ship alcohol to work? (guessing this is workplace specific, but I was wondering if it was really common in CA)
    3) Tell me your experience. I am just trying to figure out options as this person is pretty weary of shipping anything to work.

    Thanks!

I had similar concerns after I moved from a place with a front desk that would accept packages to a house. Contacted GSO and this was their reply

Have yet to take them up on it though

I've never customized my GSO shipment before, and I believe that in general only the shipping account (in this case, the Bruery) can customize shipping options. So you might be out of luck on that front. Try contacting GSO and the Bruery to see if there are options.

My personal experience has been pretty flawless through my first year. Takes a day or two for the Bruery to get the shipment out after purchasing the flex shipper, but once GSO has it it usually arrives at its destination in San Fransisco in one day.

I'm kind of confused as to why the package would have to be shipped to your friend at work. Does he live in his cubicle?

Maybe i'm way off and maybe this is what I am after, but my friend works all day, so he is not home. From what I can tell GSO requires a signature to deliver, so he would have to present at home during the day when the package is delivered. He would be at work, so I was thinking he needs to use his work address, but I wasn't sure how acceptable it is to deliver alcohol at work in CA.

Typically, if I am shipping via Fedex, I can have the package held at a Fedex facility and when I get off, I can go pick it up...that is what I am after.

Does GSO deliver to residences late? Can you customize that?

I don't think any of us will be able to speak to whether or not his employer is okay with delivering alcohol to the office. I'm sure it's fine as long as he doesn't start drinking it at work.

It seems like you're overthinking this. Or maybe you just need a new trustee who doesn't need to have the beer shipped to him.

It really depends on the workplace. At my last job it was perfectly fine to have personal packages delivered due to high volume of packages that came in no one cared. I even showed my boss some of my beermail and he didn't seem to care one way or the other. At my current workplace, having personal packages is delivered is frowned upon as-is, and having alcohol delivered would go against the "no drugs or alcohol on premises" policy.

Have it shipped to his house, fail delivery attempt since he is at work, you will receive an email with a 2nd delivery attempt where you can customize the time. I have done this with TRB shipments since they also use GSO. There is a late delivery option I think 5-9pm window that I tend to use.

This will add on another day but I think it solves your current problem.

GSO does in fact have warehouses like fedex but I believe there are fewer throughout the state since an option to have at warehouse and pickup when convenient for me was not an option here in San Diego.

Thanks a lot everybody, I think we will try SDReapers idea. That seems to be a reasonable alternative.

I always had issues with GSO delivering my RS beers. I ended up just needing to go to the warehouse to pickup for every shipment. It wasn't a big deal because in San Jose their facility is right near the airport, and I lived and worked 10 min away. They had Saturday hours or sometimes I went on my lunch, either way it was always quick and easy. Really just depends on your friend's proximity to their facility...

Just tell your friend to give you his preference and go from there. This shouldn't be very complicated.

They do have Saturday delivery options (in case I missed someone informing you of that above.) I often miss the delivery attempt while at work. You just go online and choose what day you want them to try again. M-Sat I believe and the windows are 8-12:00, 12:00-4:00, and 4:00-8:00
