Breweries opening in Minnesota 2015/2016

For the three ba's in Rochester it appears forager created history by being the first brewery to open before they said they would...

(If you count the Septemberish opening that they've been telling us all summer, not the "summer 2015” we heard before that.)

 

I stopped in tonight for a quick glass. The gose was excellent and the place looked great, finally Rochester might have a brewery to brag about.

 

No love for LTS?

 

I still have to get there actually, from everything I heard their beer is pretty much a best case scenario outstate brewpub which is well executed above average but unimaginative beers. Basically the same thing I say about red wing and reeds landing. Both places I visit pretty regularly but nothing worth driving two hours just to drink. Even if this is true of LTS that would still be an enormous step up from Kinney creek

All indications that I've seen from Omni Brewing have them still on track for a September opening.

 

I thought it was pretty awesome - was there Saturday night for the soft opening and tried everything except the MN Uncommon. All solid with the gose really being exceptional for the style. Austin makes great sours so I am pumped to see them roll out eventually. Pizza was stellar, too - tried 4 of them.

 

LTS is an enormous step up from Kinney Creek.

I don't know that it's worth driving from the Cities just for it, but it's more than worth your while to stop while in Rochester.

 

Non beer news: Loon Liquors in Northfield is opening their Cocktail Room on Sept. 10th.

 

Is Pryes opening a place? They talked like they were for a long time now. Just talk? Also, wasn't Angry Inch, Roets and U4IC all stating they were opening this summer?

 

Not sure if this had been previously mentioned, but Oude Oak, 20 minutes south of Duluth.

Sounds like a direct competitor for that godless brewery our of Superior, WI.

 

There was a kickstarter option for attending their pre-opening parties on Friday and Saturday nights. I suppose they could wait until the following week to open for everyone else, but they seem anxious to start as soon as possible.

I know it is mostly because they are only 3 miles from me and I pass the brewery every day, but I'm excited about these guys. They seemed to move very quickly - buying a building mid-June and brewing early September. From social media, it sounds like they got their approval to brew last Friday, then put in an all nighter to brew the first batch immediately. Impressive. Hopefully the energy and passion translates to good beer!

 

Two updates hattip to @islay:

- Birch's on the Lake (in Long Lake) will open September 28. Sounds awesome!
- Lakes & Legends (Loring Park, Minneapolis) should open sometime in early November.

Here are a few updates -- information gleaned from Facebook pages, only:

- Angry Inch (ca. 8/18) is still working on build-out at their facility, and their tanks are not quite in place.
- Roets (ca. 8/11) are nearing completion of their own build-out. They also brewed at Enki, recently.
- u4ic (ca. 8/4) were offering lifetime 'free beer', and still working on their buildout. Here's a blurry photo:

Any updates on Nutmeg in Burnsville. I know they were planning for a fall opening and took delivery of equipment several months ago.
