And already missing from the tap list. CURSES.

Oh well. I'm still thinking of stopping by tonight. Looks like that FH Full Sail is still on...

Edit: Wait wait wait, how did I look at that list twice and miss that Barley Brown Rauch roggen-bock both times?! MINE.

Had Crux's Cruxtennial last night. Wasn't a huge fan last year, but this year is dynomite. Don't sleep on it.

Any idea what distribution will be like Ryan? I thought their fresh hop, off the fence Belgian IPA was terrific last year, but outside of the brewery and fresh hop fest in PDX, I didn't see it any place else last year.

Don't know, hope to find out soon. They did bottle Cruxtennial last year for sale at the pub, and I think draft saw some distribution. Clearly, I haven't twisted Larry's arm hard enough to get all the details, but will keep trying.

While I like this news, to me it means a missed opportunity to make a FH version of the original Mosaic beer they had at opening and sporadically since. Half Hitch is quite popular, but I'll always pine for the lower ABV of "Mosaic."

I thought they were the same beer (half hitch and the original mosaic). Not entirely the same, as the abv. in half hitch is a bit higher, but I thought otherwise that half hitch was the name they gave to their "mosaic" DIPA.

Don't know if the hop and malt bills are identical except for volume, but Untappd lists Mosaic at 8% and Half Hitch at 9.5%, so even if Half Hitch is an imperialized Mosaic, the ABV difference is enough to make them separate beers in my mind. 9.5 is just pushing more sweetness across my tongue than I want for this beer. Also, I don't have notes to confirm this, but I think the original Mosaic at opening was even lower than 8%.

Thanks! I agree with you about the abv., and to be honest, it's one of the reasons I so rarely order it now (even though I think it's a delicious DIPA). At 9.5%, it's the same abv. as doublejack, another DIPA that I think is terrific, but now seldom order. I know we're only talking about an additional 1.5% abv., but for whatever reason, in my mind it makes a difference.

@sharpski , I was in Kulshan last night, and the bartender I talked to said they're brewing one, but haven't brewed it yet. She had no other details. Stay in touch with the person we mentioned in another thread, on a different site, she's got her stuff together, and should give good info when they finally get it brewed.

    Aaaaannnd...it's gone. CURSES.

They'll have more in a few days, but right now "It just isn't ready."

I'll be out of town until Monday night. Please don't drink it all before I get back. Deal? Okay!

I'm hoping this doesn't apply to the Sellwood location as well, as I'd like to stop by on Saturday to try it. Right now, the website indicates it's still on tap there, but then it also still lists it on tap at the PDX location as well (so it sounds like it's best to call in advance). I will say that the new DIPA they're pouring (Easy Duz it), is pretty tasty, if someone needs a substitute for the FH workhorse.

I tried Eazy Duz It at the Saraveza IIPA Fest, and it is a charmer. Last night I opted for a pint of the regular Workhorse. Freshest I've had in a while. Mighty good.

Also: As I was sitting at the bar and finishing my meal, the bartender brought over a small sample of the Fresh Hop Workhorse. I'm guessing it was the amount that was still in the tap line. Just enough to get a taste. It was delicious, and the watermelon character that other folks mentioned is right up front. Can't wait to savor a full pint of the stuff.

The Mosaics used in FH HH are apparently the first Mosaic hops grown in Oregon. Pretty cool.

That IS cool. Have also seen reference elsewhere to the first crop of Oregon Amarillos used in some beers. I wonder what happened this past year to allow licensing of previously held-close Yakima varieties. Need to expand acreage more rapidly than the original patent holders could accommodate? Relaxed attitudes/increased trust in the licensing?

Haas grew the Mosaics in Oregon.

Anyone know when we'll see the Washington Fresh hop brews bottled? I was in Seattle last year for fresh hop season and fell in love with Bale Breaker and Freemont and REALLY need to get my hands on Cowiche Canyon this year (Grew up in Cowiche, WA).
