Oh the ongoing dispute of how much drinking is too much drink or qualifies as being an alcoholic. I say if you are taking care of yourself, your family and your fiscal responsibilities (job or winning the lottery) then do your thing! When I drink I like to feel a buzz so I don't drink everyday and rarely 2 days in a row as I need recovery time. Props to those with the control to drink one beer a day. Great thing about life is everyone is different and gets to decide what is best for them!

I generally have 2 beers everyday, one when i get home from work(takes the edge off my work day) and one just before bed. Every now and then i'll have 2 beers right after work, usually only happens after a really long day. My first beer for the most part is a go to beer(SN Pale Ale or Prima Pils) and i make my bedtime beer something new i bought or i drag something from out of my stash in the basement. Not often have i skip a day, but it has happened.

As a Model, it is frowned upon to be consuming carb-y anything (to consume at all, rather). I've been working as a fashion model in NYC for a few years now and the job requires me to restrict my diet. When I drink anything, my inhibitions kind of break down and it's easy for me to go overboard; i'd have trouble stopping at just one.

Ideally I could never cut beer out of my life completely, but I hope to achieve a situation where I can have just 1 a day and incorporate it into my regular diet (maybe skip lunch and have a small dinner. I need to be on a 900 cal per day diet). Not sure if anyone else here suffers the same inability to control the desire for one after another. What's a good way to counter this?

Don't drink everyday. Mostly on weekends, and usually 2-3. Sometimes will have a drink or two during the week, but it's rare. Workout on a regular basis (4-5x week) so the desire to have a drink isn't always there after a workout. Lately though I've just wanted to drink 4-5 in one night. Not to get drunk though, but to have a good drink with dinner, or after kids go to bed, or just as a nightcap. Doesn't help having good stuff in the fridge is also enticing (Solar Abyss, 4beans, just mocking me when I open the fridge).

Anyone else every get this way? Though turning 35 this weekend and I'm hoping to hit up a couple places in PA. We'll see if the wife and kids allow this.

I drink 6 days out of 7, with that said during the week ill sip on 2 beers after work, on the weekend I'm more willing to down a few extra for a nice buzz before watching a movie or eating. I usually stop at 5 or 6 beers because I personally don't like being really drunk.

I agree that distance makes the heart grow fonder. However, I also find that I am more likely to "binge" drink (5-6 drinks) if I take weekdays off (which I do). For me its all about calories and fitness. Its hard to make any significant gains (or losses) in the gym when you are drinking every day. I never regret not-drinking the day before, but I do sometimes regret drinking the day before. However, life would be simply dreadful to never have a drink (or six).

I don't think there's any harm in having 1-2 beers daily..

However, I find this hobby much more enjoyable if I take 3-4 days off weekly. I avoid burnout, and that first beer on Thu or Fri really feels like I've earned it!

I agree with this. When I drink too many days in a row I don't enjoy the product nearly as much. In addition it adds up!

Yep. I have one with lunch and one or two after work/dinner. When I have a cold or something, I'll do the same and have nothing, or drink one of those in the back of the fridge that's at 4 months or something.

Though I take 1 day off a week, I prefer to drink a little (1-2 beers) 6 days a week (occasionally 3 on weekend days). It helps to savor and enjoy beers more. Once I start having 3 or 4, I get palate fatigue and I can't enjoy that 4th beer very much...or at least I can't pick up its subtleties well at all. If I'm having 4 or more, I stick to session stuff.

I drink probably 2-3 times a week. Friday, Sunday and either a Wednesday or Thursday. I hit the gym quite a bit plus I get off work late a few times out of the week. If I have a bad or long day at work I'll puff a little 'greenery' to mellow out.

I typically have one or two beers with dinner. Every now and then I will crack a third open if it has been a rough day. It helps me sleep a few hours later too. There are also times where I go long periods of time where I don't drink anything at all. I was just at a wedding on Saturday, and I have not had anything to drink since then.

This to me sounds like, eat a ton of raw veggies and you can have 2 beers a day.

I turned thirty five this past weekend as well. I've drank 4 to 6 every evening since saturday. So yes, others feel this way. It's all good. Happy birthday.

On work days, I have up to 4 beers (lots of variables). So, I might have four 5%> beers, or I might go for two >7% beers. I am enjoying my youth as I know age will eventually dictate drinking less. One weekends, I tend to stick with the max of 4 beers in a day, but I might have higher ABV beers overall. I consider a bomber to be two beers, yet somehow 16 oz as 1 beer.

Lately, I have been having 1 to 2 a work day at like 6%> since I just don't really feel like drinking that much. I have never felt that my drinking is out of hand. If I were to be hung over for a work day, I would be very disappointed in myself.

To each their own as the replies in this thread suggest. There is no right or wrong answer to this and here's mine. I very much enjoy beer with dinner on a nightly basis and it's common for me to follow up with another of the same style (typically an IPA) or switch to something heavier for dessert. That being said, I'll have anything from 1-3 beers a night on a regular basis with 2 being my average. A variable is if I decide to open a bomber
