Does anyone know how far out Smuttynose dates their bottles? Their pumpkin ale just hit shelves in SoCal, and it reads "Best before 11/26/15." I know the beer is totally fine; I'd just like to know. Thanks!
Should have a bottling date too. Either notched on the label if a bomber or printed on package otherwise.
At one point it was 6 months out from bottling to best by date. However, that was over a year ago when their quality was really inconsistent (I stopped buying as a result of some bad experiences). They may have changed it given that everyone says that their beers, especially Finest Kind, are back up to snuff.
They first released the beer June 27th, so it was probably bottled June 26th. 5 months out. I think that sounds about right for their beers.
They have really stepped up their quality game at the new brewery and flavors are coming out a lot more in all their beers.
I believe it is six months, but it is obvious no one really knows for sure. Hopefully they will reply to my query with the info we seek.
I know their Baltic Porter has the bottling date, the ABV, and the fact that it is bottle conditioned printed on the bottle above the label face.
I just encountered Left Hand's Oktoberfest with the same best by. It struck me as odd. Feels very soon for a 2015 release, and very late for a 2014 release.
Hey guys! This is Lee from Smuttynose. All of our year round beers and seasonals are dated six months from bottling. The best buy dates are printed on the bottle necks and the bottled on dates are printed on the outside of the cases. our 12 packs are printed with the bottled on date, except for the variety packs which are marked with the packaged on date.
