water (there is a limit), colchicine and ice packs IMMEDIATELY ON FLARE UP HAVE IT WITH YOU, yoga, and minimalist shoes. The purine thing is a marginal correlation. This all started in my 40s but mostly extreme kicking and pressure on my foot starts it up.
Dont get me started on psudo gout

I passed a horrid, jagged little asteroid of a kidney stone about 5:30 AM on the 16th of December, 1992 after two weeks of on-again-off-again bullshit and agony. Graduated college about three and a half hours later, don't friggin' remember it. Don't even remember if it was indoors or outdoors. Considered as a 24-hour day, the biggest relief of my life.

For guys who have never had the pleasure: it feels exactly like being kicked in the balls, but ten times as intense. Ladies, I can't explain how it feels, but I may can give you an idea how intense the pain is: I've talked to nine women over the years that have both passed a kidney stone and had children, and they have all been of the opinion that childbirth is a cakewalk compared to passing a kidney stone.

On the plus side, it's the only time I've ever gone to a bar on the advice of a doctor.

I've got gout (left big toe) which is still pretty minor. I haven't had any flare ups with beer drinking (and I drink a few :-) ), but shellfish (shrimp!), gravys and asparagus will pain me occasionally. My remedy is I drink a beer...

I woke up this morning and my gout has mysteriously disappeared - 100%. Last night I drank fresh squeezed lemon mixed with water. I took a few 500 mg vitamin C tablets. Drank a couple of table spoons of apple cider vinegar with water. Ate a bowl of frozen blueberries. Drank a bunch of water and took some psyllium husk tablets for fiber, than popped 800 mg of ibuprofen. Ascorbic Acid and apple cider vinegar supposedly breaks up and helps eliminate the uric acid. The berries (flavonoids-anthocyanins) help lower uric acid and reduce inflammation. Fiber and water help rid the body of uric acid.

I'm sure the prednisone I had been taking over the last three mornings played a role, none taken today. Over the past couple of days, I did eat a fairly clean diet (no meat, no refined carbs, low fat, many veggies, no high-fructose, no alcohol yesterday). Yesterday, morning the gout did flare up again, and the prednisone helped somewhat. I repeated the same home remedies this morning and will repeat them again tonight.

I received a growler of Kuhnhenn DRIPA this morning and plan to enjoy it tonight...I don't want it to get too old.

I hate to burst your bubble but gout does kinda just disappear when it does go.
