Go to the Bodega Brew Pub is my advice. The tap list reads like a novel. there is always something new to try. NG Pumpkin Pie Lust and CW Scotch Ale were just released too, if you wanna get WI specific.
http://www.beeradvocate.com/place/list/?city=La+Crosse&c_id=US&s_id=WI Sloopy's, root note, turtle stack brewing, & bodega are generally good breweries/beer bars. Woodman's or festivals for bottles.
Thanks all, I love the Bodega and great food too! Anyone suggestions at Turtle Stack, great name I'd say!
Went to Turtle Stack a few weeks ago and really enjoyed the place and the beers were definitely something to recommend. Im curious to here more about what other people have to say about the place but I would give it the thumbs up for sure.
Root Note is right across the street from Bodega. It's a little hipster/granola for my taste sometimes, but the beers they put on sometimes rival or beat Bodega. Definitely worth checking out. Also try Golden Tap, it's new and has a lot of the old stand by's on tap. Same with Old Crow and Breakfast Club - new but nothing too fancy on tap (though last week King Sue was around town). Also try Stein House for a good tap selection. All these are downtown and easily walkable to each other. Same with Turtle Stack. Todd the axeman is still around at Festival and you will find many Toppling Goliath varietals around there, too. Gotta appreciate Turtle Stack. Not all their offerings are my cup of tea though. I'm a huge IPA snob. New brewery to try and definitely worth checking out. Can't mention La Crosse without mentioning Pearl Street Brewery either, though they have their end of "Tour de Pearl" party on Saturday, I think. So they'll be packed. Whether you love or hate their offerings, I try to support them. Their owners are awesome people. All this is just my humble $.02. Stay safe and have fun.
Most everything has been mentioned but Recovery room can be a good place to check out; last I was there they had Peruvian morning on tap (a few months back). Also LA crescent wine and spirits is a must stop bottle shop across the river. Have fun, don't drown. Cheers!
Thanks all, love the Bodega and got to pop in a couple samples at Turtle Stack. Looking forward to trying more.
Can't wait to go to La Crosse next weekend for Oktoberfest and I'll be right around the corner from Bodega. Anyone have a bottle shop to recommend (I'll probably scour Festival Foods and Woodman's to see if there's anything loitering)?
The liquor store on the island in Minnesota. Great selection of plenty of beers you cant get in Wisconsin.
Was there 3 weeks ago and everybody has it right - Bodega has good food too. We also went around the corner to Stein Haus and had great beers and a good time, but the crowd is younger and it was much louder.
