Smog City Appreciation

Got 4 bottles. A taster of CuddleBug inside and picked up 4 bottles of AG.
Didn't care the Cb. Still don't get it. Maybe one day?

 

Yes, they even used to sell blanks before they got their branded growlers. Not sure who was working but, yeah, they fill blanks.

 

Glad I checked. Will go later in the weekend and try it in tap

 

They only fill what they're filling though, i.e. what's up on the chalkboard, 2 or 3 of the beers, Beer Spaceship, 1UP, and Bug Juice at the moment.

 

2000 bottles sold in 2 1/2 hours. I'd say people were excited for this.
I was about 50th in line or so. Got there at 10. One of the last people lined up on the back wall before the line curved into the sidewalk.
Got my 4 bottles and went inside and got a taster. Pretty damn good.

 

Showed up at 2, grabbed bottles. Got a pour and bounced. Easy peeeazy

 

Wait. What? You don't like it but you got four bottles?

 

Sorry but not into sours.
And yes. 4. Go figure.

 

Buying them for friends and/or trading purposes, I'm guessing?

 

Does it really matter though?

Back on topic..... can't believe the demand for this. I've got friends on the East Coast looking for this one.

 

Cuddlebug is honestly just okay. it's not the whale everyone makes it out to be but I mean hell I do enjoy it and my regular traders wanted a few bottles. Seems like an offering the Bruery would put forward, kinda reminds me of filmishmish.

 

Who is making it out to be a whale? It's really good. Saying it reminds you of Filmishmish is a good thing because that's a great beer.

 

Pretty sure the community is, hashtags being supplied on IG, lines 50+ deep(which is seemingly common at any beer release now). By the post, I was inferring it's not a beer I would line up for is all. I wouldn't line up for most beers haha.

 

That's fair. I don't really pay attention to hashtags on Instagram because people put that shit on anything they are drinking. As for folks lining up...yeah. I guess Mocha Machine is one as well.

 

Didn't get bottles, but going there after firestone and getting it on pour was strange. 4 of us got pours and all of them were different shades of murky with one being fairly clear. I was not feeling this batch at all.

 

Had batch 2 last night, thought it was amazing and just as good as batch 1.

Saw that it traded for some Julius though...cali gonna cali

Whale or not, despite the huge volume of people that showed up I didn't think the release wasn't bad at all. The lines for both bottle pickup and draft flowed pretty smoothly.

 

I thought it went pretty good with the amount of people in line when I got there. I've seen some bad ones. Smog and company did a great job. I'm sure Laurie had a huge part in the organizing.

 

Smog City is laid out nicely for releases. The roll up door in back allows for a line to not interfere with bar business in front, no matter how long the line. Because it's an industrial complex, no other businesses open on a weekend. Nice setup.
