Typically don't drink reds or ambers much, but locally Pikes Peak Brewing Devil's Head Red is drinkable. I find reds and ambers to be a "starter beer" for most breweries...just never been that impressed by the style and profile, I guess.

Fall must be on some folks minds...I like Fat Tire. It's played out, but it's good.

Lagunitas Imperial Red is insanely good IMO. Wish it was available year round. Before I became a hop head, Bell's Amber was my favorite go to.

Just say Nugget Nectar. No one cares about your freshness crusade

OK but it's true. Nugget Nectar is the best one because it's so different. All the other reds are biscuity and rich, thick and hoppy too. The ones that are authentic and don't have hops are the ones I do like. . . generally. NUgget nectar really is unique.

Lakefront Fixed Gear, Nugget Nectar, and Green Flash Hop Head Red are my favorites.

Oskar Blues G'Night is orgasmic! Yes, I said it haha, and I am surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet. And easy to find here in FLA.

If I could find this reasonably fresh I'd agree with you, the Big Red Sticky is really good. Fresh.

I'm not one to demand that my beers arrive to my home fresh from the bottling line, so you're barking up the wrong tree, dude.

For certain beers, freshness really matters. NN is one of those beers that tastes much more intense when super fresh. If you'd had as much of this particular offering as me, you would likely agree.

To be a bit contrainian, Schell's Nordeast is an American Red Amber. It's always available, highly
drinkable, priced right, and tasty- not pretentious. We always have a few in the fridge from spring
to fall, just to drink. Last one was fresh from the tap, at a hot MN State Fair afternoon in O'Gara's beer garden.

I'm going to stay local and go with Rathskeller amber ale from Gray's. It's not going to be on anyone's top ten list, but I've always thought it's a nice beer and by far the best thing they make.

One of my absolute favorite styles of beer. Wicked Weed-Tyranny makes my short list and now available in bottles. I really enjoyed Smuttynose-Kindest Find also. Tocobaga was the hoppy red that started it all for me. The other exceptional ones I've had have already been mentioned.
