I didn't realize it had bad reviews. I love that beer.

Harpoon Leviathan - Red Squared. (Harpoon "don't get enough love on here".)
We don't stand in line for it, it's easily available locally on the shelf or at the brewery. (But I understand what you're saying!)

    Troeg's Nugget Nectar.

Wasn't aware that Yeungling produced an amber ale.

The only ale that I've ever tried of their is the Chesterfield and it was nothing to write home about.

Both Tocobago and Lagunitas Imperial Red have both been mentioned a lot so far, and I have to agree. Both are excellent.

As for something no one has mentioned, I've gotta give some love to Finch's Pig in the Wood. I thought that it was a really tasty barrel-aged amber that didn't go overboard on the barrel (given the style). Honorable mention to Two Brothers Revelry. That sucker is a beast of an imperial red.

I'll second this even if it's not entirely in style, it's still a good damn beer.

Many other good ones mentioned in this thread.

When I can get it (and get it fresh) hereabouts, which is sadly rare, I love some Mad River Jamaica Red. Also "Nugget Nectar," like every-f@&$in'-body else...

I drank a growler of Ma last night. If I'd had my eyes closed, I wouldn't have known I wasn't drinking an IPA. Tasty, for sure, but could pass as another NE IPA with caramel coloring added.

I never said it wasn't. Just pointed out that folks do not need to indicate freshness levels when citing beers.

They don't. But they do produce an amber lager.

Hallelujah. Why is it that beer drinkers think that amber is darker than what the rest of the world thinks?

Its unique and for me its also different fresh from what it is like starting at about 2 weeks and both of them are different from what it is like starting at about six weeks and beyond. My personal sweet spot is between 2-6 weeks.

Nugget Nectar and Great Lakes Nosferatu. It's a shame that I had to travel out of state to taste both of these great examples.
