Sure Sun Devil has had well documented issues with out of date beer in the past, I don't believe Tops has. Sun Devil will also discount that out of date beer for you if you point it out to them, that's if you want to buy it. I'm not a fan of Lauries so I choose not to shop at Sun Devil. Another issue, while Yemenmocha sleeps better thinking he is saving money shopping at the beer eqivilant of walmart, I will sleep better knowing that I am supporting those places that love and care about craft beer, and in the case of Papago and Tops are largely responsible for Arizona having such a wide variety of beer to choose from. These place are beer advocates. Before them no one carried any sort of selection. Total Wine and Bevmo have no respect for craft beer. Whle it is a larger corporation Whole Foodss has demonstrated that they care about craft beer and normally dont leave it sitting out warm.

    Walmart?

I think Home Depot is a better comparison. They have everything you want, good prices, helpful staff. Their only 'crime' is that they aren't locally owned vs. the neighborhood hardware store which doesn't have as much stock and usually higher prices.

The issue of pricing is being framed in a skewed way to make local = better. Safeway is the norm for a price of gallon of milk, not some local mom & pop store. The one is the norm, the other is the higher priced place that better have some other benefit to justify the bloated prices.

There was a lack of real competition pre-2006 - almost like a form of oligopoly here.

Bottom line, I prefer to support and purchase beer from the places I feel support craft beer in Arizona the most and from the places that I feel treat the beer I am buying better than just a box on a shelf. Knock yourself out with this endless debate Yemenmocha.

It's not about making local better, it's about making the places that truly support craft beer better. Whole Foods isn't local and I support them just as I support Papago and Tops.

Knock myself out? As bennetj17 pointed out, you brought up this "debate" again out of nowhere.

Looks like it is festering inside and resulted in your bringing it up again without any prompting from me in the thread.

Both, including the rare releases. We have an excellent distribution here of regional craft and imports.

Yes saw all of the above at Total Wine today when I got my Alpine/New Belgium Collabo.

Plus there's the FW Double Pale Ale in stock too, but I'd call first.

Flanny's in Tempe has had tap takeovers for both breweries if I recall correctly.

I will be out Monday the 10th thru the 15th and have open days on the 11th and 12th if anyone wants to meet up for a brew or two. I plan on hitting Flannys on Tuesday for semi-liquid lunch.

In downtown Phoenix you have Roosevelt Tavern, Lost Leaf, Carly's Bistro, Cooper Blues, Phoenix ale brewery, Sunup brewing, and Angels Trumpet Ale house. If you make it out of downtown go to Four Peaks, Papago, Whole Foods Chandler, Flannys, and Hungry Monk.
