I did a search and couldn't find a good thread on where to go while I'm in midtown Manhattan and Garden City/Westbury on Long Island. I would appreciate some advice or links if anyone knows of a good thread or site to bottle shops, craft beer bars and breweries (less than two hours away for breweries). Thanks
Gingerman is the best spot in midtown. The good breweries are spread out a bit Other Half in Brooklyn is easily accessible from the F/ G train. Singlecut is in Queens (not sure the best route). Have fun in NYC!
Just off the top of my head you could visit Other Half and Three's in Brooklyn. Also Sixpoint is there but it is only production. I would highly recommend Other Half. From midtown it would be about a 45 minute subway ride.
The best options for beer bars in/near midtown are: The Jeffrey The Cannibal Pony Bar (Hell's Kitchen) Singlecut is easily accessible by taking N or Q to Astoria/Ditmars and walking about eight blocks (about a half hour trip, one way). Other Half is easy on the F, but it's a bit more of a journey (maybe an hour, one way). In terms of midtown bottle shops, Beer Table To Go in Grand Central is your best bet.
good spots in Midtown besides Gingerman..Rattle n Hum,District Tap House,Pony Bar Hell's Kitchen and check Willis beverage in Mineola and Universal Beverage in Carle Place..both not far from Garden City/Westbury
Midtown Manhattan is a wasteland for bottle shops, unless you don't mind paying a huge premium for single bottles. If you are in Garden City stop by the nearby Beverage Plus in Floral Park. That is the best store in that region. He even carries some Jacks Abby. If you want to travel further east you can find equal or even better stores, but sounds as though you want a convenient place to go to

Hit Barrier Brewing if you can too, about 15-20 min from GC. Black Sheep is def a good spot. Beverage Plus in Floral Park is a good store, can drive by Bev Barn in Garden City Park as well either coming or going
Bev Barn in GCP has really stunk lately....empty shelves, some populr styles having no representation...and out of code. I hope they get back on the ball
Beverage Plus is another good one in Floral Park..and if you feel like going a little further east..Shoreline Beverage in Huntington..excellent bottle shop..1200+ bottles and Black Sheep is very good..if you see a huge bartender..that's Bob..real good guy.
