Dirt Wolf is pretty good, but certainly not mind blowingly good.

I stand corrected. I shouldn't have bothered with the first half of my post.

DirtWolf is waaaaay better than Shape of Hops to Come but that is just like my opinion man.

    Cheers!

Hop Ranch and Dirt Wolf are awesome IPAs. Their Hop Ticket IPAs and the 19th Anniversary IPA have been great too. So I'm looking forward to this a lot and will buy at least one sixer to try it out. BTW, does anybody know if the 19th anniversary will come back next year? One of my favorite session IPAs. On the other hand their moving parts series tastes like the rejects of their IPA experiments :slight_frown:

    Nuh uh.

Have to say this years shape is really a bitter bomb, smells of tropical fruits then it assaults your taste buds. I went true Dirt Wolf when it first came out and I liked it well enough, better than Hop Ranch IMO.

Doesn't Hop Ranch use Pilsner malt?

Any word on a release date for Vital? Haven't heard anything since this thread was started.

I heard "later this fall" when I was at the brewery this week. Open to interpretation I guess, I didn't press for an exact date.

Dirtwolf is excellent when their hops are first harvested. As they produce it later on the hop season it's just ok. I think they also overproduced Dirtwolf and there has been a not so fresh inventory laying around, at least in NEPA.

I just really want Hop Ranch and Dirtwolf in 16oz cans. That would be killer.

    This sounds good too though.

maybe this explains some of the inconsistency I've had with Dirtwolf -- some of my memories have it as a genius dank creation, while others are remembered as somewhat pedestrian and more malt-forward. always a good brew though.

    definitely falls off very precipitously

I agree. I'm a huge Victory homer but dirt wolf has always struck me as middle of the pack as far as DIPA's. I'm a much bigger fan of hop ranch.
Hop devil was one of my intros to craft beer and IPAs in General about 15 years ago. I rarely if ever drink that any more.
That being said I look forward to any new beer from victory. I'll definitely try it. I'm not a fan of cans though. I hope they bottle it as well.

Dirtwolf is one of my favorite DIPAs and Hop Devil was the first IPA I ever had...I'm sure Vital will be another great addition to the Victory family.

Kind of off topic but does anyone know if they are doing Harvest Ale again? I loved that beer.

They had it on draft at the brewery when I was there yesterday. http://www.victorybeer.com/brewpubs/downingtown/ Should be bottles as well I would think, but I dunno how far they go.
