Sounds like I need to make a trip to Saarbrucken.

I agree with you on Karlsberg.

Beer in cans is hip & crafty, right?

This picture was taken at Kaufland, right?
Then, there are those "delicious" things for around 25 cents each missing

Reinheitsgebot, so it's gotta be good.

Wait, so radlers are RHG-approved? How did I miss that?

Probably because they add the soda after the beer is brewed following the RHG. Just a guess.

Exactly, for beers mixed with anything AFTER brewing, a seperate category exists in the vorläufiges Biesteuergesetz- Biermischgetränke.

Don't dare ask for a German milk stout though

Maybe Camba should try adding DLG-approved full cream milk after brewing their RHG-conform stout. Can never have enough seals of approval here in da DE.

So we have a new local brewer in Bremen (super small batches, maybe even smaller than pico-brewing) for about a year now, and he's been making a lot of beer, rarely the same thing. Everything has been at the very least technically proficient (no off flavors, etc) and enjoyable, with a few standouts that have been especially enjoyable. His most recent batch was a Double IPA which was just fantastic. I might swing by and see if there's more, but I suspect it's already all sold out.

Grebhan's Bier in Bremen - if you are ever in town check it out. Nice guy, too. Puts up with my awful German with a straight face.

Had all available Beers from The new "Craft" Brewery auf Rügen (except for the Dubbel).
The Saison is the only one i can mildly recommend

Thanks for the heads up, was just going to order the sampler as it seemed fair value considering it includes a Champagnerflasche... What about their Baltic Alt/Porter?

The Insel Herb is a Pale Ale.Seemed like it was Pilsner malt-only brewed.
-very muted aroma, taste was more like it,still not complex

The Baltic Ale is supposed to be an IPA.Also seemed like Pilsner malt-only.
It really lacks hops and comes off more like a Belgian Blonde due to lack of bittering

The Insel Kap is aupposed to be a Porter.
It reminded me too much of the Störtebeker Hanse Porter.Too sweet, too light and not enough roast.

The Insel Saison was good, when i compare it to the Saison Dupont it couldve been a tad more funky and hoppy.

The Insel Kreide is a Witbier.Fairly decent but it smelled slightly sweaty.

Interesting that they have so much Prairie on the shelf. I've heard Crooked Stave is also readily available in some areas. Both are pretty unusual in most of the US.
This reminds me that I have one of those Very White **** Star bottles I need to open...

Am I seeing right? 13 Euros for Prairie? Maybe it is justified giving shipping, taxes and everything (I bet more justified than many german craft beers in the 10+ Euro range), but still damn...... Somehow I don't see the appeal of buying it in germany for that price, seeing the variety and pricings of many local offerings.

The 13 Euro Prairie beers are somewhat rare over here, too. Those prices are pretty much spot-on with what they would cost in the US, disregarding the minor conversion for the exchange rate. The ones above them are 5'ish and are more or less their flagships. I'd love to know how well they're selling in Germany, though. When a normal beer is under 50 cents, it has to be a pretty bitter pill to pay more than 20X more.

Not to mention the fact that they'd also have easier access to world-class Belgian and French beers in the same style and at a lower cost.
