This might not belong here, but has anyone seen any ballast point spirits make it to MN? I'm specifically looking to try their bourbon.

Yep, that is definitely the European label not sold in the US. Someone is being sneaky.

This label has been in use in the US for several years. The US modified the Organic qualifications (2012 I believe), which allowed the Cantillion Bio label to be used in the states.

Last night, Devine Liquor in River Falls had Starkeller Peach and 120 Minute IPA. Can you handle an 18% IPA?

Has anyone seen Furious 4 paks with a canning date fresher than 7/23? Trying to get some fresh stuff to send out on a trade and I don't think month and a half old cans would do it justice...

    preferably Minneapolis or close-ish burbs

Calling it an IPA is a stretch, IMO.

Has anyone seen any of the Bell's planet series floating around recently? I got a Saturn and two Neptune's from Minnehaha Lake, but would love to get my hands on a few more. I'd be especially curious to see what an old Mars tastes like now! Thanks.

Also, just so I can prepare mentally and physically, where there many (or any) TC area shops that bourbon county variants in previous years. I've yet to go out on black friday but I've only ever seen BCBS in the stores I went to. I really want to get my hands on a BW and the coffee, and ideally the regal.

If you saw BCBS there was a pretty good chance those stores also got the variants. Those are the first to go.

you might try reading through last years thread and see which shops got mentioned there. seemed like Total Wine took/got much of the MN allotment.

This is probably not the first time it's been mentioned here and I don't want to go through 58 pages to find it, but, this past years allotments were heavily based off how much inBev product each store sold and not just how much Goose Island product each store sold. If you're local sells a lot of Budweiser, Bud Light, etc, they may have received more than your local "craft" beer shop. The only place I was lucky enough to get any variants was at a liquor store next to a major college. They don't sell much craft beer but they sell a hell of a lot of Busch Light and Mich Golden Draft Light.

There is more to the equation. A couple of things to consider:

    - BMC-centric liquor stores, as you say, "don't sell much craft beer." For that reason alone, you're more likely to find something like a BCBS variant on the shelf there... they don't get snatched up right away.

    - There are tons of examples all across the country of "craft beer shops" that don't even sell Busch Light or Mich Golden, or even regular old Budweiser... and yet they receive respectable allotments of BCBS and variants. The Four Firkins, for instance, received an allotment of '09 and '08 BCBS along with their shipment of 2013 Bourbon County. Obviously, that favor was not based on their selling of Bud Light.

TL;DR - It's a fun, anti-BMC narrative... but it doesn't seem to me that it holds much weight.
