Or Stillwater. Very pretty, artistic labels...which are so busy that I can't tell what the hell is in the bottle.

When yellow piss macro beer says "premium quality" or "from the genuine whatever whatever whatever “ it's like, don't waste your breath, it tastes like shit..

I also hate boring labels, for world class beer, such as sculpin and two hearted. You would never guess how good they are just from the picture.

This this this. All of this. I recently drank an IPA last night and the aroma was very muted, the hops subdued a little. How fresh is the beer? No idea because the brewer refuses to put the date on the beer. They told me "we work hard to make sure our retailers keep fresh beer in stock" or some such nonsense. How about no. So either the beer was a little old or it wasn't that great, wouldn't the brewer want to know which one it was? I also hate how imported beers don't usually say where the beer is made, but they do tell you where it is imported from. Do I really care that "White buffalo imports, White Plains, NY" is responsible for importing the beer? No.

Agreed. I happen to think the Sculpin label is quite attractive. Perhaps @Ipaupaweallpa just has something against fish

This is more of a beer community pet peeve than it is a beer pet peeve...but people either writing reviews or just talking beer on forums/facebook using the same exact borderline meaningless descriptors far too often just gets on my nerves. Do you really HAVE to put "bomb" after everything? Juice bomb, malt bomb, hop bomb, coffee bomb....ugh. Stop it.

    /end complaint bomb.

None. It's the inside that counts.

Lol. More leaning towards two hearted than sculpin I suppose. No disrespect for Ballast, one of my favorite breweries. But I never would have tried two hearted based on the colors, or picture. I prefer skeletons through like the rest of Ballast point, or stones gargoyles

On the other hand, this label is pretty basic as well for such a world class beer.. So my opinion has Definatly changed more recently

I understand where you're coming from. I remember thinking the 2 hearted ale labels were awful. Now I'm just used to it. I'm a graphic artist, and I've always paid close attention to labels. What's interesting about the pliny label is that even though it's so ugly, it's also classic and iconic, in a weird way. It's so identifiable, and it really stands out in a crowd. I recently got a couple Pipeworks beers in a trade - MAN I love those labels, but there's a trade-off there as well. The identity of the beer gets lost in the complexity of the artwork.

I find the lack of reading material disturbing.

In India, I've seen Kingfisher Strong labels where the ABV is listed as between 5-8%.

    That's a bit of a range.

I take enough time checking dates. I agree with the OP. Put the style and ABV prominently on your label.

    The only one I have...

A bottled on date, clearly seen and without having to resort to the interwebs to decipher the julian date code or other crazy method of dating. So annoying.

Is it that much to ask for??
