I like to mix a bourbon barrel stout or really anything stout with a fresh IPA.
Usually about 1/3 stout and 2/3's IPA.
Most imp stouts boast big ABV and those days are over for me so I cut it with an IPA.
I get a nice black style IPA with under tones of bourbon barrel or coffee notes etc depending on the beer.
I had some success with barrel Narwal

I've been curious about a Ballast Point idea lately, half and half with VaS and Calm Before the Storm.

I'd second that idea. I love the 50/50 Habanero Sculpin & Grapefruit Sculpin.

That one I've done, and it's damn good. Feels like eating Caribbean food. I feel like a heavy/light coffee blend would be interesting, especially with the chocolate flavors in VaS and the hazelnut I get from CBtS.

    grapefruit sculpin with habanero sculpin
i mixed HT and BCBS for shits and giggles once, tasted horrible
    kriek des jacobins with hottenroth
victory at sea mixed with calm before the storm was my latest mix

lighter beers used to cut sweetness of fruit beers
something dark and bitter with something fruity and sweet work well

I had the same thought this week. A fellow BA was visiting from Colorado. I already have the VAS and he brought me some CBtS. I'm going to make this happen tomorrow.

I took a Birdsong Jalapeno Pale ale and added a little Hala Kahiki Pineapple Beer. I so want to brew an actual pineapple jalapeno IPA. The sweetness from the pineapple, the heat of the jalapeno and the bitterness was heaven in a glass. In all fairness I drank a can of each on its own before mixing them. I have just been contemplating a Pineapeno beer for a while and this was a good way to see how it might taste.

The August issue of BA Magazine briefly mentioned blending beer under the Beer Reviews section. Specifically, it was recommended that the reader "Blend some Habanero Sculpin into your Grapefruit Sculpin."
I've tried blending beers a couple of times, but never with better than so-so results, and once with really bad results (to be fair, I've not tried blending the Sculpins as the Bros recommended).
Have you ever tried blending beers? If so, what beers did you use? How did you do it (50:50? another ratio?) and how did it turn out?

we blended a whole bunch of Ommegang beers together in a glass after a beer tasting and it was terrible, lol, but I could see blending certain beers together, never tried besides that one instance

Pumking and 4Beans was like drinking a mocha latte out of a mug made from pumpkin cookies. I have done the Habanero/Grapefruit Sculpin 50/50 and it is indeed delicious.

I tried this last week and shockingly it was pretty solid...50% Surly Coffee Bender and 50% ST Pumpking. About 4 ounces of each, and it was split a between three of us. It tastes like a pumpking spiced latte. White chicks approve.

Upland Strawberry Lambic and 2015 Dark Lord at about 2:3 ratio, though some preferred a 1:3 ratio.
