I love Night Shift, and I've been a loyal customer since they were on Charlton Street. I joined the 2015 Barrel Society mostly for the beer and the access to the draft line. The t-shirt and glassware were nice, but I certainly wouldn't need these year after year. The cost was $150 for two stemmed glasses (assume $10 each) and a t-shirt (assume $25?) and then $105 for seven bottles of beer -- which makes sense, as extra bottles are usually $15 each.

While I've been really bummed about the Members Only tap being such a disappointment this year -- I don't understand how can you keg that much Hogarth, but so little of the other three beers -- I'd probably join next year if there was a bottles only option. I get that they're able to sell the glassware and t-shirts at a nice markup, but to spend just 70 percent on beer and 30 percent on merchandise every year is a little much for me.

Cezanne and the last three beers will really move me on this one way or the other. Even if I don't join the BS again, I'll be drinking a lot of Morph, Santilli, Whirlpool, El Lechedor, Viva and other regular offerings...

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the year-end party for Barrel Society members as a primary benefit of signing up. The 2014 year-end party in January was a fantastic event with top-notch free food and four free tasting-size pours. Last year they had all seven 2014 barrel society beers pouring plus a number of other vintage kegs. It was crowded but they had two different tap stations and had opened up additional space in the brewery area to accommodate the crowd. The line for food was a little crazy at times but I didn't have a problem getting beer pours in a timely manner. It seems that NS has learned a thing or two about handling crowds since then so it should be even better this year.

The year-end party may not be a consideration for those who don't live nearby but I live close enough that it's one of the reasons I'll be re-upping for my third Society membership in 2016

I'll chime in that last year's end of year party was a lot of fun, especially since they had the Pats game on. I wonder how they'll handle it this year with twice as many BS members as the previous year. two sessions?

I suspect they'll expand in time for the EOY party:

I unfortunately missed the party last year due to a scheduling conflict. You can be sure I won't make that mistake this year.

We have about 200 bottles of extras that will be put up for sale soon. The reason for the delay is we are days away from launching a new website with a new web store. The new web store is hosting externally so it will handle higher traffic loads and hopefully won't crash every time we offer extras for sale. We are hoping to get the extras up by early next week.

Still working out details for this year's end of the year party. So far we are aiming for another January party date and will likely be two sessions on a Saturday. We don't have a date yet because we are waiting till we get a better grasp of when construction will finish for the taproom expansion project. Its supposed to be done by end of November, but we all know construction never goes to plan. We are planning a similar set up to last year of free food, some free beers, and all 7 barrel society beers on tap plus some special cellar beers. I think last year we have 20 plus beers on tap which was pretty awesome. We also will allow members to bring one guest as we have in previous years.

The taproom expansion is the adjacent space to our current taproom in the room that we have opened up for BitFests and the Ever Weisse Party. There will be more bathrooms over there and a second bar. The space will mainly be used for private events, special events/release parties, and for busy days/nights. Once the project is completed we will have capacity for close to 400 people!

    Cheers!

I'm far enough away that I normally only make it to the brewery a handful of times a year (though extending the hours until 10 has helped that situation quite a bit) - the big thing for me is access to releases that I'd never be able to get to otherwise. Even though I haven't loved all the beers, they're all pretty good and I'm happy to renew again.

Now, if there was some way to give NSBS members a shot at buying other specials online (Darkling, ABB El Lechedor, stuff like that), that would be absolutely huge. 1200 members makes that prohibitive when we're talking about 260 bottle releases, though.

Yeh, we have talked about trying to figure out a way to offer this perk but its really challenging. Some releases are so small that most members wouldn't be able to get one online. Then the challenge becomes storing hundreds of bottles till people can come pick it up and accurately tracking all that inventory is a nightmare. Maybe if we had some badass high school style locker system it would be easier. For now, we just don't have the process or set up to offer any more than the 7 bottles that come as part of the membership.

Haha yeah you guys might want to still work on tracking members' bottles. My trustee was told I didn't order a second Hogarth. He left without it since he didn't have the receipt. I had to find the receipt and send it to prove that I did. Still love you guys though.

Anyone else having problems trying to get the extra Ceźanne? The link was working for a minute, but said shopify limits the number of users. Now the link looks like it's down.

Just sent an email to members. But appears Shopify flagged the item and blocked its sale. Working with them to resolve the issue.
