I have. 1832 XXXX Mild Ale is one of my favourite beers of all time. I do hope Dann brews it again.

5.50-7.99 depending the beer. Meadowlark was 7.49 for me.

I've had them all except for the first one (which was a high-ABV mild that came and went before I knew to watch for it), and they've all been quite good, as well as historically fascinating. The most recent release of iterations of the same London brewer's mild, one from 1838 and the other from 1945, was a study in contrasts, both very good and very different from one another.

I think my favorite overall was the 1901 black KK ale, but they'd all be in regular rotation in my household if they weren't one-offs, and I happily anticipate future efforts.

Needless to say, I drink lots of Pretty Things; they may be the single brewery most likely to have their wares in my fridge at any given moment. Presently my fridge is hosting a Fluffy White Rabbits and a Field Mouse's Farewell. And the Meadowlark that inspired this thread is indeed fantastic... but alas, it appears to have already sold out in my immediate neighborhood.

I had Baby Tree the other day - on my distributor's recommendation - and I was disappointed. On the BA site, it is noted that 2011 was the last year that the beer was brewed with plums - and maybe that's what my guy had that made him recommend it, because the 2012 Baby Tree was just an okay quad. Not bad, mind you, but nothing that I'd buy again. I'll bet the plums really gave it a great flavor, and I probably would've enjoyed that.
What've they got to offer that really sets them apart from other beers in a style? I'm partial to tripels, quads, BSDAs, BSPAs, DIPAs, barleywines (and similar), and imperial stouts.

You'd have to go dig up another thread on it (maybe in the NE area?) but I remember hearing they only had enough of the particular hops used in Meadowlark for two batches, and from the timing the second one is presumably what's in stores at the moment.

Why their beer is even being sold in So Cal and not closer to home is beyond me but in MA they range from $6-9 for most of their regular offerings.

Their flagship Jack D'Or cannot be ignored. They call it a "Saison Americain" but I call it damn tasty. Fluffy White Rabbits is a pretty hoppy triple worth checking out in the spring time.

Ditto that, for New York. I can only ever find Jack D'Or and maybe one other, usually Botolph's or Baby Tree. Reaaaaaally want to dig into the rest of the lineup, especially since I'm not into brown ales or quads so much.

And yeah, I've been arguing for a long time now that Jack D'Or is dying to be put in 12oz bottles. What a lovely saison!

Yeah Jack D'Or is great, it's like a lighter, paler, more sprightly (yes, sprightly) Hennepin, in my opinion, and with a stronger hop component. Really a great beer.

That's the going rate in RI. Jack D'or for less than $6 is a solid deal.

I will try both of those - really been digging saisons this year, and I've always been partial to tripels - since it seems that Pretty Things has hit my area (all 3 of my regular beer shops have a line-up from them since last week). Thanks.

Meadowlark is great in the bottle, but today, I got some on tap. Holy Crap!! Wow!! I hope they produce this year round. I also hope Pretty Things starts working on a DIPA. I can only imagine how that would be.

I love these folks. Everything I've tried from them has been fantastic. The best part is I've managed to turn on a (non-BA) friend to their brew and she is now hooked.

Fixed. I've seen meadowlark priced anywhere from $6.50 - $8.50. And I have seen our finest regards for $9.50

Meadowlark is a nice beer, but at $7-$8 for 22oz, it has to be one of the most expensive straight up IPA's in the country. (Lunch probably holds the title)

PT pricing varies greatly by store in MA. They can be found reasonably priced at $5 and change for a couple of bombers on the low end (like Jack D'Or), but I've seen those same beers for $7 or $8 at other stores.

One thing I've noticed is that PT is often more reasonably priced on tap than in the bottle, especially if you get away from the high-end beer bars. Around the Boston area PT is on tap nowadays at a lot of more beer-casual restaurants and bars, and it's not uncommon to get pints of the lower ABV offerings for about $5, or a nice tulip of the stronger beers for a similar price. However, go to a high-end beer bar, and you don't seem to get the "local" pricing, and $7 Jack D'Or tulips are not uncommon.

I have had a few Pretty Things beers (Jack D’or, American Darling, etc.) and there is no doubt that Dann brews great beers. Having stated that, at $7-$8 for 22oz that is some brutal pricing.:slight_frown:

    Cheers!

sprightly. That definitely wins an award for "best beer descriptor of the day".

Love Meadowlark. Not entirely happy about the price, and that makes it something of a non-regular. But a superb beer, as with many of the brews from PT.

Would love it if they moved to 6packs...
