I agree. I felt it was very similar but then stopped just short of the saison flavors in War Bird and the mosaic hops took over at the end. Very good, crisp beer.

Whatever else is happening with the Lizard King reviews, I genuinely do think it's basically the Mosaic equivalent of Zombie Dust. I've never been as high on ZD as the rest of BA, but given that everyone is, I also get why Lizard King is scoring so high. It's pretty balanced, and is a great showcase for Mosaic hops. Pretty excited this is in tallboy cans; will definitely be a go-to.

I agree with last few posts. I wouldn't give it a 5 but its one of the best damn APAs I've had. Light and crushable, yet packed with flavor. I prefer NvU like @BeerGreg said but that's because I prefer DIPAs. Have to say I like Lizard King over ZD too because of the mosaic hops. I'll admit though, I'm biased to Pdub

Out of the canned offerings so far, I have to say Lizard King stands strong in the top spot for me. Loads of flavor, very manageable ABV and price point.

The "Important HartsyThaiFood Power Rankingsā„¢" below...
    1. Lizard King
    2. Blood of the Unicorn
    3. Ninja vs Unicorn
    4. War Bird
This was a pretty important post.

I enjoyed Lizard King a whole lot! ....but I'd still choose NvU if the choice were on the table.

Thanks to you, I can now sleep tonight. I would go NvU, Lizard King, War Bird (even though I haven't had it), and BotU.

Anyone know what's going on with distro this week? Usually it makes it my way (s1 route north burbs) on Wednesdays. Nothing yesterday, and no bottle shops reporting delivery today yet either.

Binnys in Plainfield had the most recent batch of Hey Man, Citra Saison, and Lizard King as of yesterday.

Does anyone know if there are plans to distro anything else next week besides Grand Guignol Act 1?

Hmm still no Lizard King up on the S1 route (Grayslake, Lake Villa, Antioch). What's going on here?

I went to the Lizard King release party after North Coast fest last Friday. I was pretty disappointed in the beer. I had really high expectations for the beer since it was compared to Zombie Dust, which was one of my favorites before it went downhill. Anyways, I was not impressed by LK. It was watery and lacking in flavor. I'm such a PW fanboy I will be grabbing another 4-pack eventually, but probably not this batch.

Weird because online I haven't seen any opinion that is similar to mine. IRL my girlfriend and beer friends agreed, and thought it was average. We missed out on a sweet afterparty show too :/

I'm surprised to hear you didn't think it had much flavor, since that's not something I'd say about it. What I will say is that after the first few sips (this is from a can; I don't remember as vividly how it was on tap), I stopped being able to strongly taste the Mosaic, since my palate was being a baby.

Also, for me the ZD comparison is in how balanced and drinkable of a single hop beer it is, since obviously it tastes nothing like ZD.

ZD is no longer a single hop citra beer, and hasn't been for a while from what I understand. Don't know what other hops they use, but once Citra blew up they couldn't get enough to keep up with their production.
