So apparently El Dorado doesn't do Drake's in LA anymore. Anyone know who now distributes Drake's to LA. Cheers
Los Angeles Not sure, but I've noticed more and more bottles popping up around town. Did El Dorado recently drop Drakes?
Aroma Comatose has been seen in the LA/OC area last week. But once it hits the shelves its gone like in 60 minutes.
Yeah, noticed that as well. The first time Aroma Coma hit the shelves down here (maybe late last year?) it stuck around for awhile. Now there's a frenzy of folks grabbing for the bottles. I guess that's great for Drakes (bad for me as I'm too lazy to go hunting for beer)
I was able to get 1 bottle last year when it came out. Was kinda on the backside of the release. Wish I had tried it when it was first released. All was gone after I tried my first bottle. This time I was waiting for the distro here in OC. Ended up with 6 bottles. I'm sure there will be more available in the next month or so.
I'm the same way. Luckily I just walked right into a few cases of this new batch at Total Wine. They had a two bottle limit but that was enough for me.
I was lucky enough to get two more bottles yesterday. This is my surprise beer of the Summer so far, having never had it before it's completely blown me away, one of the most amazing noses on any beer and flavor to more than back it up. And yea, if my two sources don't have it I don't get it. The furthest I travel for beer is Alpine and that's easy because I have a lot of clients in San Diego. I love good craft but I am not willing to go on lengthy hunting missions. Cheers.....
Drake's SoCal distributors now include Ace/Mission, Triangle, El Dorado (OC and San Diego), and soon to add Alliance Beverage Partners. As for the Aroma Coma, thanks for the love. It's been hard to keep up with demand on it. Cheers.
Ive heard that Drakes will eventually land at Alliance Beverage up in Chatsworth. El Dorado.... Alliance.... meeeeehhhhh
Are these really Drake's new distributors? http://www.abwholesaler.com/group11/triangledistributingco/home http://www.micromatic.com/beer-distributor/ca/los-angeles/ace-beverage-co.-bdid-133.html http://www.alliance-bev.com/ Bud, Corona and Dairy products? I wonder if there will be an AB buyout soon? I love drakes, hope the beer stays the same! ;-)
It's pretty standard that large distributors carry macro-brews and other products besides craft brands. That being said, some of these guys are putting a new and larger emphasis on craft, hiring Certified Cicerones and folks who have worked in other craft breweries as new sales reps and managers. Still, Drake's will continue to brew the same great beers no matter what. The distributors are simply helping to get the beer in greater amounts to more people.
Does anybody here in the LA/OC area know if we can get kegs (5 gal or 15gal) of Aroma Coma here? I've contacted a couple of stores and they are checking into it. Highly doubt it, but never know!
If you're talking about getting kegs for yourself, then no. They are only available at Drakes through their keg program. I'm pretty sure Aroma Coma is long gone...believe only about 30 five gallon kegs were made available to the public...my number could be off though. http://barrelhouse.drinkdrakes.com/?page_id=36
in LA ace/mission also carry Sierra Nevada, Anchor, Speakeasy, New Belgium, Bootlegger's, Hangar 24, and many others. Sorry to burst your bubble. BMC have built strong distribution networks, and craft breweries are taking advantage of it. I dont see what the issue is. If you want to boycott all those breweries listed above, I guess you could stick with Lagunitas, Ballast Point, Deschutes, or Firestone... oh wait, those are all distro'd by Classic (MillerCoors).
