I never saw a screen shot of the recipe.

    Cheers!

One thing I have realized while drinking all these NE IPAs....

I fucking hate the NE Patriots. But the NE beer is still delicious so nevermind my off topic post.

Me too, but I have yet to go over .5oz in a hoppy beer (I'll do 1oz with a low alpha hop in a not so hoppy beer). Could you explain what to think it brings? I've never been able to put it into words.

I feel like I get more cat piss this way...

I kid I kid, however it does seem to bring more hop flavor to the table. If I use chinook here I get a more piney beer. This one was tropical as hell with the citra addition. I just feel like it reinforces the nose with more flavor.

It's cool, the broncos had to cheat to win their superbowls too.

Not me. I was happy a box of Lawson's, Tree House, and Hill Farmstead showed up in time for the game!

Just got a new email from BA that I haven't ever got before. A newsletter. It contains some of the threads of mention from the forums in it. This one just happened to be in there. Great job getting the HB forums pushed up in the traffic.

I used to hate IPAs. The first one I really liked that opened my mind to the style was a competition brew I did with a group in a practical brewing class whilst in college. On judging day, all the groups had kegs of their brews out for all of us to try while the judges did their thing in the other room. Our keg was the only keg that got fully tapped. It was a great success. People wouldn't shut up about it. We thought we were a shoe in for the grand prize. Then the judges handed down the results and gave us 3rd place... I went up to Jamil Zainasheff (one of the judges) at the end to ask for some notes. Apparently the judges agreed ours was the best, but they knocked off points because of its turbidity. This was before this NE IPA mud thing I guess...

The winners did an imperial black ipa. Basically an 'everything but the kitchen sink' beer. They gave the judges a bottle conditioned one cuz the keg we tried was carbonated soy sauce. A group of viniculture students, damn them!

Wait, you were knocked off 1st for appearance by a BLACK India PALE Ale? Talk about appearance issues.

I have the September issue of BYO. There are 20 different clone recipes in this issue and they all look good!

I have already placed a post-it flag on page 75 which is the recipe for Trillium Fort Point Pale Ale. I intend to brew this beer either this fall or next spring (depending on how my brewing schedule shakes out).

    Cheers!

Brewing a rendition of the fort point extract clone now, did a partial mash of 1 lb of wheat and am using London III. I'll report back in a few weeks with my results.

That's a perfect example of a top cropping yeast. We would skim that off at day 4 or 5 for repitching, then dry hop the fermenter. It helps if you have a open top fermenter!

Brewed another batch in this vein yesterday. Added 13% oat malt and a bunch of wheat malt. Mostly Nelson with some Amarillo and Columbus, fermenting with 1318.

That sounds perfect, love the heavy Oat %.

I will be brewing my HopHands clone for the 15th time this week, 18% Oats and Weyerman Pale malt but plan to use all New Zealand Hops instead of the Original recipe.
