Sadly I tend to agree with this sentiment.

This is good to hear (for me anyhow) since I'm only ISO the non-sour BA Avery stuff.

It pains me to agree with this. There are still the occasional standouts though - Opuntia and the like.

Could the move have anything to do with this trend? I've been hoping they'd figure it out and start pumping out more quality again.

Anyone know if Avery made Tweak again?

I agree that many taste similar, although I generally like that flavor profile. That sour brown malt note seems to be a common theme. It's tart and puckering, but the malt offers some additional body. I can't imagine the similarity is an accident since they're usually well liked.
At the same time, the few times I've done any verts or mini-verts, they do start to bleed together.

I think this is why I tend to not care for them more and more. I am more on the dry, funky, lightly tart/sour side. I can't stand to take more than a few ounces of the super sour/acidic stuff.

Good deal. Will be there for GABF next week and really loved having it on tap at Star Bar. Hadn't heard anything about a new batch though, so wasn't sure if it would still be around.

If you are going to the festival I am sure they will have loads of it at their booth, as well.

Any word on Pump[ky]n being released this year? last year they were bottled around the same time and I think also released at the same time, but they haven't posted anything about it yet. I know it's on their release calendar, but I would have thought they would have at least posted a release event by now for it

I thought Avery's 22nd Anniversary sour was a damn fine brew, not overly acidic like most of their darker malted sours that are almost acetic. Their recent releases are way unbalanced for my palate unfortunately, although Fortuna isn't bad either.

I thought that beer was fantastic. The best thing I have tried from Avery not named Tweak or Oud Floris.

Picked up a bottle of Rumpkin at the brewery and had a nice pour of Tweak. As fantastic as always.
