Stop giving a shit about what other people think. Sorry to be so blunt. Drink what ever you like.

    "That goes for all y'all.
Don't pretend to be something you're not. Just be who you are.
    That's what's really cool."

There needs to be a balance in attitudes. Craft is not inherently better than macro. They are simply different. Different does not mean better or worse, simply different.

I certainly agree the stigma against AALs exists a bit unfairly, but will also cop to being one of those jackasses when I was just getting into craft.

It seems like a corollary to the income effect, where a consumer asks for more proportional to a rise in income. In this case, there is a rise in perceived quality, making the previous beers (likely AALs) seem unfairly inferior. Of course, much like the income effect, the new quality will likely become the baseline, and either budget or taste will have to adjust when desire overwhelms actual capacity to purchase.

tl;dr: we like new things, we scorn old things, we eventually come around to old things because they become new or necessary again.

Listen, if you're making your beer choices based on what you think is "cool," and not on what you actually want to drink at that moment, you've got bigger problems.

I could give a f**k what some beer snob thinks about what I am drinking. If I want to drink a KBS, so be it. If I want to drink a Coors Banquet on a 90 degree day and some BA snob has something to say about it, eff him (or her).

If it is "uncool" for me to drink 5 Millers after a hot ass day playing softball or playing an all-day tourney while drinking a ton of Miller instead of getting pounded with 8 DIPA's, then so be it...I for one can't stand the people that try to be a snob because you would rather just have something that is a hell of a lot lighter one day out of the week and tries to tell you something. You do you, and I'll do me.

Drink what you want nobody is say otherwise at all, but I can't stand when people seem to think there is no in between from AAL and imperial stouts and DIPA's. There are tons of quality lagers, hefes, saisons, wits, pale ales and any number of great beers/styles that people can drink on a hot day or while outside that don't have to be crap beer (kind of off topic cause I don't care about the topic).

True, I wasn't implying that its either Clown Shoes DIPA or Miller, I was merely stating that when you're spending all day drinking and you can buy cases for $16 bucks versus having to buy 2 or 3 twelve packs of $15 (or more) of light craft beer that you will only be drinking because the rest of the players/people won't touch it, it makes sense to buy something that everyone will drink. But to each their own, I prefer craft, but every now and then, its fine to throw some AAL with friends.

Doing something to be cool is the least cool thing you can do.

None of my pals care a hoot what beer I drink, nor do I re: them. We're all just happy to be alive and still drinking!

In all honesty, I think I am cool, partly because I like good beer. That's mainly because I think good beer is cool. Talking about good beer is also cool. Drinking good beer without enjoying it, but just because someone else thinks it's cool, is lame. So you guys are all fucking sweet in my book.

Lots of things make me uncool, and maybe a couple things make me cool. I'm not really sure how exactly my drinking habits feed into this calculus.

I drink PBR and 'Gansett on the regular. I am not ashamed of this. I stopped caring what people thought of me a while ago. Sometimes you just have to... LET IT GOOOOOO!

If you feel the need to drink craft beer to be cool, you will probably always be a loser.

Drink craft beer because you want to, not to be cool. That's pretty sad if that's the only reason you're doing it. Find another hobby.
"I used to be cool, but then they changed what cool was. Now what I am with isn't it, and what's cool seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!" :grinning:
