Up by Bangor, I'd HIGHLY recommend ORONO Brewing. We stopped after our wedding in Bangor... Best stop of the trip.

The kid brewing there is doing it pretty much alone, and he's more than happy to talk about his love for beer. First ever peppery beer I've thoroughly enjoyed, and it was an.... IPA!!! He had some real good staple beers, then a few experiment beers too. I totally support this operation and tell anyone I know going that far north to check it out!

Get the brown butter lobster roll from Eventide in the Old Port area of Portland. If you like lobster rolls, this is an absolute must.

Also, High Roller Lobster Co. might be at Bissell while you're there (check their schedule at https://www.facebook.com/thehighrollerme). More solid, if nontraditional, lobster roll options.

I saw it mentioned once already, but it's worth going out of your way to check out Deciduous Brewing down in NH. It's a little off the beaten path, but it won't disappoint.

Hidden Cove in Wells had some good stuff when were there about a month ago. Beer only so if you are hungry you'll need to head across mile road to Billys for some fried seafood.

Bobs Clam Hut and Chauncey Creek, both in Kittery, have excellent lobster rolls.

I was there earlier this summer. The list rotates, obviously, but I have always found great beers there.

Orono Brewing is definitely solid. Marsh Island Brewing just opened up in Orono as well and even though they don't have a tap room their IPA Downrigger is now out at local stores as of yesterday and by far the best local IPA in the Bangor area.

Lobster Roll- Linda Beans in Freeport
Exploring Maine Beer- www.mainebrewersguild.com has most of 'em and even a nifty little Maine Beer Trail map you can complete for some swag.
Beer in Portland - Try the Maine Brew Bus to hit a lot of breweries without having to drive and the store they operate out of, The Craft Beer Cellar at 111 Commercial St, has a huge variety in individual bottle and 4/6/and 12 packs.

Agree, but thought the list seemed shorter for some reason just a few weeks ago.

    Cheers!

Tully's is all you need. If going to Portland go directly to the breweries.

While I was up there, Bissell and Foundation both told me bier cellar was the worst bet, because everyone knows of it. Find a mom and pop shop, and get em there (sorry, I don't know any, not local). Cellar sells out within an hour or two they said.

Allagash is literally walking distance from Bissell (and foundation and austin street) and I'd keep that in mind and just hit em all at once if it makes sense.

Restaurant we hit was little tap house and they had a happy hour special for like 5 bucks, a decent beer and a small app.
tapas is their thing and it's all incredible from what I know. Oxbow brewing, a must while in town.

I got a bunch of recommendations and I don't remember any of them. I went to Pai Men Miyake which is a ramen place (it was one of the places that was actually open). One of the places I do remember is Slab.

We get Bissell Brothers drops every Tuesday, and usually sells out in a few hours. Foundation releases cans about once a month and this week sold out in a few hours.

That being said, it doesn't get more mom and pop than us, my wife and I own the store and I work about 80% of the hours. Glad to hear everyone knows of us though

Man, great replies here. I was going to add my two cents for the guy who bumped the thread but I think just about everything has been covered. Man, I'm so jealous of those of you who live there. My wife and I (and now our kids) go to Ogunquit every Fall for the last 13 years and man, that part of New England is my favorite spot in the world. Great breweries just adds to the positives.

We eat at the Flatbread Company every year following our day in Portland. You will not be disappointed. As for bottle shops, there was one near the Great Lost bear (same street) that was really good but the name escapes me.

I think it was RSVP actually. I think they may have done growlers fills too. There are a couple of beer stores in Old Port that are walking distance worth checking out. I would definitely go to Novare Res, not to eat, but for the beers.

We are getting some Baby Genius from Bissell today (Tuesday) but that will be it for the week. I don't anticipate any Foundation. But there are tons of other great local breweries outside of those two.

The King's Head - in the old port and on many days, the best bar in town
    Food and some good beer:
The Great Lost Bear - the best burgers in town and very good and extensive tap list
Duckfat and Flatbread are also excellent choices in the port area
