Gonna be in Detroit/Ann Arbor for a day next saturday. Please let me know any must try spots (mostly looking for beer but would also welcome hidden gems/favorite food places). Thanks!!
Hamtramck doesn't have a lot in the way of craft beer bars, but there are many great dive bars in a small area. Whiskey in the Jar is great, so is the Painted Lady. I also recommend grabbing some grub at Rock City Eatery. Also, if you have the chance, go fowling.
Hopcat, Jolly Pumpkin, Motor City Brew Works, Traffic Jam (has great food) and Selden Standard are all in Midtown. Slow's and Gold Cash Gold in Corktown. There are also tons of places in walking distance of the stadiums.
Stop at Steves Party store in Hamtramck for a pretty good selection (especially Shorts seasonals that are pretty much sold out everywhere else)
If you're in midtown Detroit, Motor City Brewing, Traffic Jam and Snug, Jolly Pumpkin are all right next to each other and Hopcat is walkable. If you're in Corktown (Detroit), Slows, Batch Brewing, and Brew Detroit. Detroit Beer Co. And The Park Bar are only a few blocks from Ford Field.
Go to Corktown in Detroit. Bobcat Bonnie's just opened up on Michigan Ave. (right by Slows) which has solid food options. St Cece's has great food options as well on Bagley St. Gold Cash Gold is a must....they're food is the freshest I've had. Batch Brewing Co. is a must stop and they have amazing appetizers as well. If you're feeling a distillery, stop by Two James which is close to all the food options mentioned.
