Expect crowds dude. People are probably lined up already at churchkey for a pour a prop.

The DC rare beer scene is rarely, if ever, chill. I've lived in and visited a lot of places, but I've never seen so much competition for limited release beers. Too many highly competitive, status obsessed people.

Expect it to be crowded, but you should get inside and get a pour of at least VR if you get there before 430p.

Luckily, I was at a wedding/tasting with VR and both Props this past weekend, so I will just mosey down when I get out of work to see what's left.

The beer scene in Boston was also getting quite crazy with people waiting outside for hours for a pour or a single bottle of some "whale" beer. Migration week seemed like the outlier this year, possibly because beers were being poured at several locations at the same time. How are the pours usually priced? I think Prop was pouring for something like $10-12 for 4 oz up north.

If it is a mess at opening I'll just take advantage of happy hour (a none existent thing in Boston). Half price Solar Abyss at Pizzeria Paradiso is hard to pass up.

Vanilla Rye will also be on at Whole Foods P Street, for those not interested in dealing with Churchkey.

I was at the CBS release at Church Key, it was pretty smooth, they limited everyone to a 4oz pour at first so lots of people got to try it. Not sure how they will handle this. 4oz tasters ran about $6 from what I recall, I would imagine these pours would be similar in price or slightly higher.

Perfect Pour has Helldorado and Merkin. It looked like they had 3 of each left.

Smooth events at both places from what I saw. Very well done. I'm glad I cut out of work early, Prop, VR and 2012 Coffee were well worth it.
