Obscene is all kind of relative. I won't buy a $40 4 pack of something I saw 6 months ago for $24, but if they released in a $20 750 I would sadly probably ignore the lack of value.

In MA, I see the regular poopin around on shelves almost yr round. I pass on it.
Its all about finding the hole in the wall places. Not the well-known craft stores.

Guess that depends how someone defines "shelf beer". I've seen it (rarely) on shelves and would consider a shelf beer (not a shelf turd) as it hits wide distribution across the country.

I usually stay around the corner from that place. Last month they had 4pks of BCBS for $50 and were trying to sell KBS for $25/bottle. I've been in a number of times and was able to negotiate a bit on some of their prices. Other times I've just laughed at them and walked out ($100 4pk KBS).

There's a store in Sheboygan, WI that still has some regular and coffee. I thought I was one lucky SOB when I stopped in a few weeks ago but when the clerk told me they were $20 a piece, I realized why they still had them. I just shook my head and walked out. I still look forward to trying one day, but I'm not paying ridiculous prices like that!

Just relating their story. They said they went to some whole in the wall liquor store in Chicago close to where they were going to be living and walked around in awe. The little lady behind the counter offered then a choice of 2013 or 2014.

If it makes you feel any better, they only sent 50 cases for the Portland metro, which has a population of 2.2 million people. That's one case per 44,000 people.

OH ABV cap of 12% prevents any BCBS distro this way. We may be one of the last states to have such archaic beer laws.

It's largely a behind the counter and/or sign up in advance beer here, at least since GI started in-store advertising of a release day.

What very few standard bottles make it to the shelves don't make it more than a few minutes here in Buffalo area. I'd stand a better chance of schtuping Heidi Klum than ever stumbling upon it
