Hi everyone, planning to make a pilgrimage from Denver for Darkness Day this year with some friends and had a couple questions i was hoping some local BAs might be able to answer...

1 - is there typically a bottle share in the line prior to opening or is that sort of thing frowned on?
2 - is 3am sufficiently early to ensure an allotment or do i need to be any crazier than that?
3 - (the odd one) my wife is a huge Husker Du fan and since they are from the area, she wants me to track down a shirt bought locally, any suggestions on where i can get one?

thanks for any and all assistance, please be gentle with criticisms as i am a delicate flower. also, look for potential in-line IP trades in the IP trade forum closer to the event. BM me if there are colorado beers you are chasing and i'll try to line them up prior to the trip for the right trades

I recommend getting there at 6 or 7 on friday if you can. In past years there has been a spreadsheet online that is used to set up trades. I imagine the main thread will have that in the near future. Friday night is the best part imo

Too bad Son's of Rock and Roll doesn't exist anymore, a Husker Du shirt could have been purchased there for sure! Maybe Electric Fetus when you're in town?

Don't know about Husker Du shirts, but Hymie's is an awesome vinyl record store. Treehouse Records is pretty awesome too.

If you bring some Casey's bottles and a growler of Superpower, you'll leave town having made a lot of new friends. It's that easy. I'd recommend getting to the line as early as possible for your first experience. You can leave a chair of table to mark your spot and walk around the area while there is still daylight. In my experience, people mingle out more when there is light and settle into their camp when the sun goes down. Bring lots of water, layers of clothes, and a toothbrush.

There is an amazing bottle share, that's the main reason to go. Generous folks enjoying great beer and great company.

Much much more than 7 lol. I'd recommend bringing a small taster glass as that as been my secret to making it till 4 am.

And don't be afraid to say 'no' to the 6th offering of BBVDL or <insert whale here> because you already had it 5 times already and need to save some sort of sobriety to taste and remember the many other brews we are passing around, lol.

If I pass out please pour BVDL into my mouth no matter how many bottles of it I've domed that day.

Oh, if you pass out in public, you're definitely getting something in your mouth... :grinning: Chances of it being BVDL are roughly .00006%.

I've got good beer karma coming, at a recent share the gracious host (your neighbor) passed out early but we woke them up for an SR71/Assassin side by side which they promptly sniffed, sipped and then left on the table to resume napping. Or maybe my beer karma was that I got to drink their pours of Assassin and SR71... hmm
