Yes. The idea of the beer is to name each release with an "Enjoy By" date. Hops fade and these beers are showcasing hops. So, yeah, hope you got a really good deal on them.

Big Bird ( from Sesame Street ) once said " everyone makes mistakes ". Make chili or beer cheese soup with it. Please try the next Enjoy By fresh when it's released. It's a great IPA

$4.99? I would have just gotten a Lagunitas bomber for $4.39 and it's actually drinkable.

At my Costco, Enjoy By sells for $5.95 for a bomber. My local liquor spot usually sells it for $8.99. These are fresh bottles we are talking here.

Just out of curiosity, where did you buy them?

In Chicago at least, you'd have paid $7.99 fresh. Probably still not a big enough discount for one that old, but live and learn. Maybe just age it another year to see what happens? :astonished:

Any of these plans could be good options, but just try drinking the beer first and try to lessen any preconceived bias. You might hate it, or you might like it. Maybe not ideal, but the idea of drinking an aged 9% hoppy beer isn't crazy. People have been doing this on purpose for ages. You win some, you lose some... but you won't know until you try it.

About double that over here, but "here" is NY.

An outdated Enjoy By is still better than 80% of the crap out there. I actually just had a 4/20/2015 last weekend and it was mighty tasty. Followed it up with a 7/4/2015, which was slightly better but the the 4/20 was fine on it's own. Surprising how much of the hop presence stays with that beer as most DIPAs tend to lean toward the malty side after sitting around for months.

Stone should do a better job of showing the Enjoy by date on that beer. It is really hard to figure out if it is fresh.

I remember when it first came out people were complaining it was just a gimmick. They tried really hard but squonk and people like him are still befuddled. Imagine if he read a Pliny label. The redundancy would blow his mind.
